Abstract

This study aims to assess the primary interactive effects of POC ketapang leaves and NPK phonska on the growth of oil palm seedlings (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) during the pre-nursery stage. The research was conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, located at Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution Km 11 No. 113, Air Winter Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The duration of the study spanned four months, from September to December 2023. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors was employed in this research. The first factor, the application of POC ketapang leaves, included four treatment levels: 0, 25, 50, and 75 ml per liter of water. The second factor, the dosage of NPK phonska, also included four levels: 0, 14, 28, and 42 g per polybag, resulting in 16 treatment combinations, each replicated three times. The parameters measured included plant height, number of leaf sheaths, sheath length, stem diameter, root volume, fresh plant weight, and dry plant weight. Statistical analysis of the data was performed, followed by a Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test at a 5% significance level. The findings indicate that the interaction between POC ketapang leaf application and NPK phonska significantly influenced plant height, stem diameter, root volume, fresh weight, and dry weight of the plants. However, there were no significant differences observed in the number and length of fronds when considering the interaction. The application of POC ketapang leaves had a significant effect on all measured parameters, with the optimal treatment being 75 ml per liter of water. Similarly, the application of NPK phonska fertilizer significantly impacted all observed parameters, with the most effective treatment being 42 g per polybag.

Abstract

The Effect of Hydroponic Height and Vertical Planting Media on the Growth of Chris Green (Lactuca sativa L.). This study was carried out at the Dokagu UIR Housing Block B No. 2, located in Air Dingin Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City, from August to September 2022. A Split Plot Design (RPT) was employed for the experimental setup, with the height of the gutter (A) as the main plot and various types of planting media (B) functioning as subplots. The treatment combinations included four different levels of lettuce types and four levels of height positioning, resulting in 16 treatment combinations, each replicated three times, summing up to a total of 48 experimental units. The parameters measured were plant height, leaf count, wet weight, dry weight, and root volume. If the calculated F value exceeds the F table value, a further Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test at the 5% significance level will be conducted. The findings revealed that the interaction between hydroponic height and planting media significantly affected all observed parameters, with the exception of plant dry weight. The most effective treatment combination was found to be a hydroponic height of 80 cm and cocopeat as the planting medium (A3B4). Moreover, hydroponic height had a significant effect on all measured parameters, with 80 cm (A3) yielding the best results. Additionally, the choice of planting medium significantly influenced all observed parameters, with cocopeat (B4) proving to be the best treatment.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the interaction and main effects of vermicompost fertilizer and NPK 16:16:16 on the growth and production of gambas plants. It was conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru, from February to May 2023. The research used a Completely Randomized Factorial Design consisting of two factors. The first factor is the dose of vermicompost fertilizer (K), which consists of 4 levels, namely 0, 540, 1,080, and 1,620 g per plot, and the second factor is the dose of NPK 16:16:16 (N) fertilizer, which consists of 4 levels, namely 0, 10, 20, and 30 g per plant. The parameters observed were the number of leaves, flowering age, harvest age, number of fruits per plot, fruit weight per plot, fruit weight per fruit, and number of remaining fruits per plot. The observation data were statistically analyzed, and a further BNJ test was conducted at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction effect of vermicompost fertilizer and NPK 16:16:16 was significant for the parameters number of leaves, number of fruits per plot, weight of fruit per plot, weight of fruit per fruit, and number of remaining fruits per plot. The best treatment was at a vermicompost dose of 1,620 g per plot and NPK 16:16:16 30 g per plant. The main effect of vermicompost fertilizer was significant on all observation parameters. Abstract

The research entitled Multiplication of Orchid Dendrobium sp. by Giving GRS Zeatin and IAA (Indole Acetic Acid) In Vitro was carried out at the Biotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, Pekanbaru City. The research was conducted over three months, from December 2022 to February 2023. This study aimed to obtain a combination of Zeatin and IAA (Indole Acetic Acid) concentrations that had the best effect on the growth of Dendrobium orchid explants in tissue culture. The design used in this study was a factorial experiment in a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor was Zeatin (Z) at concentrations of 0, 2.0, 4.0, and 6.0 ppm, while the second factor was IAA at concentrations of 0, 0.5, 1, and 1.5 ppm. Parameters observed were explant survival (%), shoot age (days), root age (days), number of shoots (fruits), number of roots (fruits), shoot length (cm), and root length (cm). The observational data were analyzed statistically, and the BNJ follow-up test was conducted at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction between Zeatin and IAA had a significant effect on shoot age, root age, number of shoots, number of roots, shoot length, and root length, with the best concentrations being Zeatin (6 ppm) and IAA (1 ppm). Meanwhile, the percentage of explant survival did not have a significant effect.
