Abstract

This paper examines the evolving role of Sharia Supervisory Boards (SSBs) in Islamic finance within a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous (VUCA) environment. Employing a systematic literature review (SLR) of 15 peer-reviewed articles published between 2009 and 2024 from reputable databases such as Scopus and SpringerLink, the study identifies key challenges SSBs face, including ensuring Sharia compliance amidst rapid technological advancements and dynamic regulatory landscapes. The findings highlight the importance of adaptability, interdisciplinary expertise, and enhanced collaboration in enabling effective governance. SSBs are urged to transition from traditional compliance-focused roles to adaptive governance frameworks capable of addressing the complexities of contemporary financial systems. The study contributes to the existing literature by offering a comprehensive analysis of SSB adaptability in the VUCA era and providing actionable recommendations for policymakers and financial institutions, such as strengthening SSB autonomy, fostering member proficiency, and encouraging cross-border collaboration to address global uncertainties.

Abstract

MSMEs in Hendrosari Village have been struggling with digital marketing due to a lack of expertise in creating compelling visual content, which has led to poor online visibility and stagnating sales. Additionally, these businesses face challenges in keeping up with ever-evolving digital trends, limited access to affordable digital tools, and insufficient training opportunities, further hampering their ability to compete in a growing online marketplace. An extensive photography training program was launched, aimed at equipping 15 MSMEs in Hendrosari Village, the target groups of this service initiative, with essential skills in lighting, composition, and post-processing techniques. This program aims to enhance their visual content creation capabilities, helping them improve their online presence and market competitiveness. The program combined theoretical lessons with hands-on practice, allowing participants to immediately apply what they learned. The community service team conducted observations and interviews before and after the training to assess changes in product photo quality and the impact on sales. The average photo quality assessment score increased from 3 to 4.5. In addition, some participants reported a 15 percent increase in income after learning new photography techniques. Based on the evaluation process, it shows that the photography training has strong potential to improve the competitiveness of MSMEs in Hendrosari village, which can inspire similar programs in other areas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the institutional relationship between drivers and the PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk within the framework of contract theory. The main focus is to examine how platform-based partnership contracts shape work dynamics, risk distribution, and potential imbalances between the company and drivers. Using a qualitative case study approach, in-depth interviews with five Gojek drivers selected purposively. Data were analyzed thematically and validated through source triangulation. The findings reveal that the partnership represents an incomplete contract, characterized by information asymmetry, moral hazard, and hold-up issues. While pengemudis enjoy flexible working hours, they bear the entire economic risks without sufficient social protection. The noverlty of this research lies ini applying contract theory to the Indonesian gig economy, highlighting algorithmic transparency and risk distribution dimension rarely explored in previous studies. These insights enrich institutional economics literature wihile offering empirical foundations for goverment regulations that are more equitable in protecting gig economy workers.
