Abstract

Abstract: This research examines the meaning of the expression justified before God according to Galatians 3:11-12. There are several opinions that claim that being justified before God can be obtained by obeying the Torah law. However, it is clear that we are justified before God not by keeping the law but by faith. By using qualitative research methods, especially exegesis or literature review, several research results were obtained as follows. First, based on the text of Galatians 3:11-12, it can be concluded that the Apostle Paul emphasized to the South Galatian congregation that no one is justified before God because of the law. So, it is clear that the view of the Catholic church is not in line with what is conveyed by the word of God through the Apostle Paul in Galatians 3:11-12. Second, based on Galatians 3:11-12, the Apostle Paul emphasized that the righteous live by faith. Third, based on Galatians 3:11-12, the Apostle Paul emphasized that the law does not come from faith, but those who do it will live by it.
