Abstract

Child labor continues to be a significant problem in Nepal, particularly in rural areas where poverty and restricted access to education contribute to the perpetuation of the cycle of economic deprivation. The purpose of this study is to investigate the gender differences in child work and the consequences such differences have for the improvement of Nepal's economy. Utilizing information obtained from the Nepal Living Standards Survey (NLSS) conducted in 1995, this study illustrates the numerous ways in which gender influences decisions about child work and schooling. Particular attention is paid to the role that poverty, access to credit, and household characteristics have in these decisions. As a result of the findings, it appears that girls are more likely to be engaged in household work and less likely to attend school in comparison to males. This has ramifications for Nepal's economic development in the long run. In order to address these discrepancies and to promote gender equality in school and the labor market, policy solutions are presented throughout this article.

Abstract

This study examines the primary determinants of customer happiness and loyalty in Nepal's competitive retail banking industry. By integrating insights from primary data and existing literature, this study investigates the effects of situational factors (frequency of bank visits, length of customer-bank relationship) and service quality dimensions (tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy) on customer satisfaction and subsequent loyalty. Information was gathered from 575 customers of "A"-class commercial banks in Kathmandu, Nepal, using structured questionnaires. Statistical analysis, such as factor analysis, multiple regression, correlation analysis, and mediation testing (Sobel test), was employed to look into the relationships between the variables. The findings show that elements of service quality, particularly reliability and assurance, have a significant positive impact on customer satisfaction and loyalty. It's interesting to note that while relationship duration positively enhances enjoyment, visit frequency exhibits a negative correlation with it. For banks seeking to enhance customer satisfaction, experience, and enduring loyalty, these insights provide valuable guidance.

Abstract

Nepal, digital marketing has had a significant impact on consumer behaviour and changed how companies communicate with their clientele. The impact of important digital marketing techniques on Nepalese consumers' purchase decisions is examined in this study. These tactics include influencer marketing, content marketing, social media marketing, search engine optimisation (SEO), and personalised advertising. The study used a mixed-method technique to gather data from Nepali firms and customers through surveys and interviews. The results show that the best ways to raise brand recognition and encourage purchase intent are through influencer endorsements and social media marketing. The study also outlines obstacles that prevent digital marketing in Nepal from reaching its full potential, including gaps in digital literacy, trust issues, and internet accessibility problems. In order to improve consumer engagement and overcome these obstacles for more successful market penetration, the report ends with actionable suggestions for companies looking to improve their digital marketing strategy.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed flaws in the world's food systems, highlighting how urgent sustainability and resilience are. In the post-pandemic period, this study looks at how digitalisation and sustainable farming methods might improve food systems. It examines data and case studies with a focus on Nepal to evaluate how eco-friendly farming practices and digital tools affect food security, supply chain effectiveness, and agricultural output. Incorporating digital technologies like smart supply chain management, mobile-based market access, and precision farming can improve agricultural results, according to the study. These developments optimise resource utilisation, lower post-harvest losses, and assist farmers in making well-informed decisions. Sustainable agricultural methods, such as climate-smart approaches and organic farming, also help to preserve the environment while guaranteeing the stability of food production over the long run. Results show that digitalisation greatly improves the resilience of food systems, especially in developing countries like Nepal, when paired with sustainable practices. However, for widespread use, issues like inadequate internet infrastructure, gaps in regulation, and farmer education must be resolved. The study ends with legislative recommendations to speed up the digital transformation of agriculture, such as funding for digital infrastructure, training initiatives for farmers, and laws that encourage sustainable practices. In the post-COVID-19 era, governments and stakeholders can create resilient food systems that can resist future upheavals, guarantee food security, and stimulate agricultural growth by boosting digital innovation and sustainability.

Abstract

Microfinance provides small loans, savings accounts, and financial education to low-income communities. It promotes entrepreneurship, small business growth, and economic development. Its efficacy is disputed, with regional results varying. Microfinance's benefits, drawbacks, and future possibilities for small enterprises are examined in this article. Microfinance empowers women by expanding financial independence and employment engagement beyond economic inclusion. Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) provide lending, savings, and insurance to low- to moderate-income individuals and small companies, according to the World Bank. Micro-loans help entrepreneurs grow, create jobs, and stabilize finances in underdeveloped economies. Through diverse funding strategies, MFIs promote SMEs, advancing economic and social advancement. By enhancing education, healthcare, and economic self-sufficiency, microfinance improves long-term financial security. However, high capital costs and interest rates remain issues. Borrowers have financial limits because many MFIs are funded by commercial banks. This research examines microfinance's role in poverty reduction, obstacles, and its potential to create sustainable economic growth. Understanding its successes and weaknesses is crucial to enhancing its effectiveness and maintaining long-term financial inclusion in low-income communities.

Abstract

Global markets have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic, which has increased economic uncertainty and changed sectoral performance. This study looks at the sectors that fared well throughout the crisis and investigates the wider economic effects of uncertainty brought on by the epidemic. We evaluate the degree of economic uncertainty and its macroeconomic impacts using real-time indicators, such as stock market volatility, news-based uncertainty metrics, and company expectation surveys. According to our research, the pandemic's uncertainty shock is similar to past crises like the Great Depression and the financial crisis of 2008. Additionally, we project a significant drop in the US real GDP, with increased uncertainty accounting for about half of the reduction. These findings highlight the value of forward-looking analyses in assessing economic resilience and offer insightful information for maximising sectoral investment plans in times of international emergency.

Abstract

In Nepal, child labor is still a major problem that is fueled by ingrained societal norms, limited educational opportunities, and economic hardship. This study examines how microfinance might be used to address the underlying reasons of child labor in order to decrease it. In order to raise household income, lessen economic vulnerability, and enhance access to education, microfinance institutions (MFIs) provide financial services such microloans, savings accounts, and insurance products. Microfinance and child labor, however, have a complicated relationship with both beneficial and detrimental effects. Microfinance can help reduce poverty and the need for child labor, but it can also unintentionally make child labor more in demand in family-run businesses. This study investigates how microfinance affects household income, educational opportunities, and awareness-raising initiatives in Nepal by drawing on case studies and current literature. According to the research, microfinance can considerably lower child labor if financial products are properly planned and executed and paired with more extensive socioeconomic initiatives. Developing kid-sensitive financial products, incorporating awareness programs, and working with governmental and non-governmental organizations to address the root causes of child labor are some of the main recommendations. In the end, microfinance can be a potent instrument in building a future where all Nepali children have the chance to learn, develop, and prosper, even while it cannot end child labor on its own.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted global economies, with significant implications for agriculture-dependent nations like Nepal. Agriculture, being the backbone of Nepal's economy, contributes approximately 27% to the GDP and employs over 60% of the population. However, the pandemic exposed vulnerabilities in the sector, including supply chain disruptions, labor shortages, and limited access to markets. This study explores the role of agriculture and agri-tech investments in mitigating the pandemic's impact on Nepal's agricultural sector. By analyzing the adoption of agri-tech solutions such as digital platforms, precision farming, and supply chain innovations, this research highlights how technology can enhance resilience and sustainability in agriculture. The findings suggest that agri-tech investments can improve productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and ensure food security during crises. This study provides policy recommendations for fostering agri-tech adoption and strengthening Nepal's agricultural sector in the face of future pandemics.
