Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore the empowerment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) patients through gliding exercises, with a focus on its role in reducing symptoms and improving hand function.Methodology/approach: This counseling was carried out at the Purjaya village health post involving 20 CTS patients. A structured gliding training program was implemented, including tendon gliding and neural gliding techniques. The effectiveness of the exercise was evaluated using leaflets.Results/findings: The findings indicate that regular gliding exercises significantly reduce pain, improve hand mobility, and enhance functional use of the affected hand. Patients reported increased comfort in daily activities and reduced reliance on pain medication.Limitations: The study is limited by its sample size and duration, requiring further longitudinal research to confirm long-term benefits.Contribution: This study highlights the importance of non-invasive interventions in managing CTS, providing an effective, low-cost, and accessible rehabilitation method for patients and healthcare practitioners.

Abstract

Increasing energy demand encourages biomass utilization through the conversion of agricultural and forestry residues into biopellets. Corn stover has high moisture content and low calorific value, while sengon wood sawdust has a higher calorific value and therefore has the potential to improve biopellet characteristics as a blending material. This study aimed to analyze biopellet characteristics and determine the best treatment produced from corn stover and sengon wood sawdust. The best treatment was determined using a weighting method based on six parameters and statistical analysis using one-way ANOVA. The study began with preliminary testing to determine the appropriate mixture moisture content and die rotational speed to produce intact and uniform biopellets. The main experiment used five material compositions with an average mixture moisture content of 39.36% and stepwise die rotational speeds of 123–96–78 rpm. The results showed that material composition affected biopellet characteristics and resulted in highly significant differences in density, durability, and ash content (p < 0.001). The best treatment was obtained in A4, consisting of 70% corn stover and 30% sengon wood sawdust, producing a calorific value of 17.2 MJ/kg, density of 1.28 ± 0.04 g/cm³, combustion rate of 0.98 kg/h, specific electrical energy consumption of 1.84 kWh/kg, durability of 99.67 ± 0.04%, and ash content of 2.40 ± 0.49%, which met the requirements of SNI 8675:2018 for biopellet fuel.
