Abstract

Idamdehe is a village in the province of North Maluku with the potential of geothermal energy to be used for electric power. The central (government) and local government plan to develop the geothermal energy. The preparation was conducted between 2009-2012. This study aimed to describe and analyze the perceptions and attitudes of rural community in Idamdehe to geothermal energy development plan. The method used is qualitative, using data collection techniques like interviews, observation and document study. This research shows that a number of community members agreed to this plan for some reason. Those are poverty, human factors and socio-cultural factors. At the beginning the majority of people agree on the implementation of geothermal energy development plan. However, a small group in the community did not agree while others didn’t have any opinion. After the community receive balanced information from this development, their perception are changed among the rural communities of Idamdehe. Those who first agree with the plan, became hesitant and refused the development of geothermal energy.

Abstract

Since the enactment of decentralization local government have been granted the authority to organize, protect society etc. Given the authority that Central Kalimantan provincial government issued a policy (Pergub No. 15 tahun 2010 on guidelines for land clearing and yard for the people) to protect the local community in the tradition / habit of farming by burning forests to customary provisions. The aim of this study is to describe and analyze the extent to which public policy relevance since the issuance of the policy in 2010-2015 and to what extent these policies protect the local wisdom. the method used is descriptive qualitative study, using the study of literature in the process of data collection. Results and discussion of these studies show that 1) in 2015 created a policy that is no longer relevant because the whole area of Central Kalimantan is 15.3 million hectares, 12.7 hectares (78%) is controlled by plantation companies. 2) goodwill by the Government of Central Kalimantan to protect local communities need to be given appreciation. But this policy could apply / relevant if it is done before the 90s because many forests and local people still farming to meet food needs.

Abstract

Today's development is so rapid that it is marked by changes in mindset, lifestyle etc., so that the scales cause negative impacts on the local wisdom of the people in Lamandau District, Central Kalimantan Province which results in an impact on endangered local wisdom. Departing from this problem, the aim of this study was to find out and analyze the role of social capital (bonding, bridging, networking) of the District Dayak Customary Council in preserving local wisdom in Lamandau District, Central Kalimantan Province. This research uses descriptive qualitative methodology. Using snowball sampling technique in determining informants. Based on the results of the study show that a). Bonding of social capital DAD Lamandau Regency lies in the homogeneous nature of its members. b). The position of Mr Marukan as Regional Head and Chair of DAD made the process of bridging (brigding) easier and could be well organized. c). DAD members who are also part of important stakeholders in Lamandau are important indicators that the community has as a form of the strength of DAD's social capital in building collaboration networks (linking social capital).

Abstract

Development is a process to accelerate economic growth, reduce gaps and eradicate poverty. Besides that development is also a multidimensional process of important changes in social structure, attitude of the people and national institutions. Therefore, in this study the authors will examine the public perception of the planned development of Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) in Idamdehe Village, District Jailolo, West Halmahera, North Maluku Province.  The reason the author took this topic because in the village will be built PLTP. The research methodology used is qualitative descriptive. From the results of research shows that the development plan of PTLP in Idamdehe village has been socialized since 2011-2013. From the results of socialization of the community get information about PTLP. There are three groups of perceptions about the PLTP development plan that is Agree, Disagree and Doubtful.
