Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of standard Indonesian language and the consistency of scientific terminology in the context of biological sciences. Through a content analysis approach on biology practicum reports, this research identifies issues related to grammatical accuracy, sentence structure, and consistency in using scientific terms. The findings reveal several errors in the use of capital letters, punctuation, prepositions, and complex and incomplete sentence structures. Additionally, inconsistencies in writing biological terminologies were found. This study provides recommendations for terminology standardization efforts, the development of writing guidelines, and the promotion of awareness regarding the importance of consistency in using standard Indonesian language and scientific terminology in the context of biological sciences. The research findings are expected to contribute to improving the quality of scientific writing and communication in the field of biology.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the forms of language interference that occur in biology research reports. Language interference is the phenomenon of elements from another language entering the language being used, which can reduce the quality and clarity of information delivery. Using a qualitative approach and content analysis method, this research analyzes biology practicum reports written by students. The results show various forms of language interference, such as phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic interference. The contributing factors of interference are identified, including the influence of the mother tongue, inadequate language proficiency, as well as social and situational factors. The findings of this research provide insights for researchers and related institutions to improve the quality of research report writing in the field of biology.
