Abstract

Posters played an important role in the legislative campaign in Wonosobo district 2019. Legislative candidates tried to influence voters by creating posters that contain interesting photos and writings. This is what encourage researcher to conduct research on the functions of languages ​​that exist in the poster. The researcher used qualitative research. Data were collected through observation. The result is that there are two types of language in the poster. The first is the language that gives information and the second is language that informs and influences voters to do something.

Abstract

Communication involves strategy of information exchange. There are many strategies. In this paper, it will be discussed types of strategy used by speaker and hearer in order to exchange information in Bird Box . Theory used as basics for analyzing data is speech act. Data were collected by observation. The steps were watching movie and reading the scripts, identifying the data, and classifying the data. Researcher also applies the procedure to analyze data; displaying, selecting, explaining, interpreting data and making conclusion. The results show that there are four strategies of information exchange that used by the main character when they do communication: direct speech act provoked by direct speech act, indirect speech act provoked by direct speech act, direct speech act provoked by indirect speech act, and indirect speech act provoked by indirect speech act.

Abstract

This research is conducted An Analysis of Code Switching and Code Mixing Used by Maudy Ayunda on Podcast of CXO Media Channel. There are two problem statements that the researcher used in this research. (1) what kinds of code switching and code mixing are used by Maudy Ayunda on a Podcast of CXO Media Channel?. (2) what are the social factors influencing code switching and code mixing used by Maudy Ayunda on a Podcast of CXO Media Channel? The researcher used the qualitative method. The researcher used the theory of code switching proposed by by Poplack in Hamers and Blanc (2000) and theory of code mixing proposed by by Muysken (2000). This study also includes the procedures of collecting data and procedure of analyzing data. The result of the study re Extra-Sentential or Tag, Inter-Sentential and Intra-Sentential. Three kinds of code mixing Insertion, Alternation, Congruent Lexicalization. The factors influencing code switching and code mixing are Topic, Participant and Function.

Abstract

Deixis is discussed in this study. The Greek word for "pointing by language" is this one. Deixis existed in written or spoken language. For learners or English speakers to grasp, these items are crucial. The purpose of this study was to identify the many forms of deixis and their references in Gabriel's stand-up comedy We Have So Much in Common. In examining the information, the author applies George Yule's idea. The descriptive design of this study was implemented through the use of qualitative techniques and numerical data conversion. The movie was downloaded from Gabriel's YouTube channel in order to collect the statistics. Subsequently, the data is examined by watching the comedy show, writing down the subtitles, and categorizing the statements that contain deixis. The study's conclusions demonstrated that Gabriel used three different forms of deixis in his speech: person deixis, which appeared 674 times, spatial deixis, which occurred 254 times, and temporal deixis, which appeared 62 times. The kind of deixis most frequently encountered in person deixis. The use of personal deixis indicated the participant in this comedy show. While the spatial deixis indicated the location and place of the event from the participant. Moreover, the temporal deixis specifies the time of speech events which is used in this comedy act.
