Abstract

Down syndrome (DS), or Trisomy 21, is a genetic disorder characterized by intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, and various health complications. This comprehensive review examines the causes, symptoms, and management strategies of DS, emphasizing global research advancements and their relevance to Bangladesh. This article highlights emerging therapies, genetic studies, and social advocacy efforts, proposing strategies to bridge the gap in healthcare and research. It aims to inspire collaborative efforts to improve the quality of life for individuals with DS globally and within Bangladesh. Down Syndrome (DS), or Trisomy 21, is a genetic disorder characterized by developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, and a variety of health complications. This review explores the causes, symptoms, and management strategies of DS, emphasizing the latest global advancements such as CRISPR gene editing and neurodevelopmental imaging. Despite these breakthroughs, Bangladesh continues to face significant challenges in diagnosing and managing DS due to inadequate healthcare infrastructure, limited diagnostic resources, and persistent societal stigma.The paper highlights disparities in outcomes for individuals with DS between developed and developing nations, focusing on the stark differences in healthcare access, early intervention programs, and societal acceptance. Case studies illustrate the successes of advanced therapies in developed countries while underscoring the gaps in resources and awareness in Bangladesh. These findings emphasize the urgent need for targeted interventions, including improved diagnostic tools, enhanced healthcare systems, and inclusive social practices in developing nations.Additionally, the article examines the role of emerging therapies and advocacy efforts in bridging these gaps. By leveraging global advancements, promoting public-private partnerships, and fostering international collaborations, the study proposes actionable strategies to improve the quality of life for individuals with DS.

Abstract

Marine and coastal environments are critical interfaces of biodiversity and ecological significance, encompassing estuaries, mangroves, coral reefs, seagrass meadows, and beaches. This article examines the historical evolution, current challenges, and future prospects of these vital ecosystems, utilizing extensive literature review and online research to analyze the impacts of climate change and human intervention.. This study reviews the historical evolution of these ecosystems, highlighting their significance as centers of human sustenance, trade, and culture. It evaluates the severe impacts of global warming—rising sea levels, ocean acidification, and habitat destruction—and human activities such as overfishing, pollution, and coastal development, which exacerbate ecosystem degradation. Methodologies include an extensive literature review and online research to assess ecosystem services, threats, and conservation strategies. The research underscores the socio-economic implications of deteriorating marine habitats, such as threats to fisheries and heightened vulnerability to extreme weather events. The findings advocate for proactive conservation through marine protected areas, habitat restoration, and sustainable practices. International cooperation, guided by initiatives like the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, is emphasized as critical for enhancing resilience. Looking ahead, the article discusses adaptation and mitigation strategies essential for safeguarding marine environments against the escalating impacts of global warming, ensuring their sustainability for future generations.

Abstract

Eco-friendly shrimp farming is emerging as a transformative approach in aquaculture, addressing the economic and environmental challenges associated with conventional practices. This article provides a comprehensive exploration of the topic, highlighting its methodologies, impacts, challenges, and future prospects.Eco-friendly shrimp farming integrates sustainable practices such as integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA), biofloc technology, and renewable energy to minimize ecological degradation while enhancing economic profitability. The approach significantly reduces mangrove deforestation, improves water quality, and lowers greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to global conservation goals. Economically, it fosters cost efficiency, premium market access through certifications, and sustainable livelihoods, particularly benefiting marginalized communities. However, challenges such as high initial costs, the need for technical knowledge, and regulatory barriers pose significant hurdles to adoption. Addressing these requires strategic interventions, including financial support, capacity-building programs, and robust policy frameworks. The article also emphasizes the importance of consumer awareness and collaboration among stakeholders, from farmers to policymakers, in advancing eco-friendly shrimp farming. Future directions include research on scalable technologies, education campaigns to boost demand for sustainably sourced shrimp, and international partnerships to enhance knowledge exchange. By balancing economic gains with environmental conservation, eco-friendly shrimp farming presents a viable path toward sustainable aquaculture, ensuring long-term benefits for both industry and ecosystems. This synthesis underscores the critical need for a concerted effort to mainstream sustainable practices in shrimp farming.
