Abstract

The integration of science and religion presents a challenge in higher education, particularly in courses that link scientific knowledge with the teachings of the Qur'an. The Case Based Learning (CBL) approach is considered effective in enhancing students' understanding and engagement through the analysis of real-life cases. This study aims to develop a Semester Learning Plan (RPS) based on CBL for the course Science in the Qur'an using the 4D development model (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate). The Define phase includes identifying issues, setting learning objectives, and planning the necessary resources. The Development phase focuses on the creation and validation of the RPS, which is reviewed by content and language experts. Subsequently, trials were conducted with small and large groups to assess the practicality and effectiveness of the RPS. The results indicate that the CBL-based RPS is highly practical, with practicality scores of 90.62% for the small group and 92.96% for the large group. Additionally, the RPS proved effective in improving students' learning outcomes, with significant improvements in understanding and analytical skills. This study shows that the CBL-based RPS can enrich learning by integrating science and religious teachings, making a positive contribution to education in the fields of physics and Islamic studies.

This research is based on observations made by the researchers on the theses of students in the Business Administration Study Program and the discovery of many spelling errors in the thesis writing. This study aims to identify and analyze spelling errors found in the theses of students from the Business Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Malikussaleh University, published in 2022. The approach used in this research is qualitative descriptive with data collection methods through systematic reading and note-taking techniques. The main focus of the study is on errors in the use of capital letters, italics, abbreviations, prepositions, and periods in thesis writing. The analysis results show that there are various forms of significant spelling errors that have the potential to affect the quality and clarity of academic writing. These findings indicate the need to improve students' understanding and skills in applying correct spelling rules in accordance with the Enhanced Indonesian Spelling System (EYD) Edition V. It is hoped that this research can serve as evaluation material for the academic community in efforts to improve the quality of scientific writing at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Malikussaleh University. Furthermore, the results of this study can also be used as a basis for developing more effective language and academic writing development programs in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of empathetic language in natural disaster reporting in Aceh online media. The background of this research is based on the importance of language as a means of building social empathy and psychological support for disaster victims through reporting. Empathetic language is understood as a form of communication that reflects concern for the feelings and experiences of others, especially in crisis situations. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques involving reading and noting 25 news articles from 13 online media outlets in Aceh, namely Serambi Indonesia, AJNN.net, KBA. ONE, Harian Rakyat Aceh, Aceh Info, Haba Nusantara.net, Waspada Aceh.com, Noa.co.id, Koalisi.co, Aceh.tribunnews.com, Portalsatu.com, Anteroaceh.com, and Acehkini.id published between 2023 and 2024. Data analysis was conducted based on Davis' empathetic theory, which encompasses four aspects: perspective taking, empathic concern, personal distress, and fantasy. The research findings revealed 64 instances of empathetic language, comprising 48 instances of empathic concern, 9 instances of perspective taking, and 7 instances of personal distress. The fantasy aspect was not identified as the news texts were factual and objective in nature. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on linguistically analyzing the use of empathetic language in the context of disaster journalism in the Aceh region, as well as the application of Davis' theory, which has not been widely used in journalistic language studies. This study contributes to the development of empathetic communication in the mass media and encourages more humanistic journalistic practices.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the lexical and cultural meanings contained in the oral tradition of makkobar boru during wedding ceremonies of the Mandailing Batak community in Padang Lawas Regency. The object of the research is the makkobar boru speech. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis techniques. Data were collected thru direct observation, interviews with traditional leaders and the families of the bride and groom, as well as documentation of the wedding ceremonies taking place in three villages in the Barumun Tengah District, namely Pasar Binanga Village, Unterudang, and Siolip. Then, data triangulation was conducted using Norman K. Denkin's theory. The research results show that the makkobar boru speech contains vocabulary typical of Mandailing that reflects kinship, moral, and spiritual values. Culturally, this speech represents the worldview of a society that upholds customs, gender roles, and harmony within the dalihan na tolu structure. This tradition serves as a medium for customary communication and a means of passing on cultural values to the younger generation.
