Abstract

The study aims to determine the Administrative Skills of Student Aides in CSPC within the academic year 2024-2025. It determined the profile (age, year level, sex, civil status, and program), administrative skills in records management, communication, technical, and human relations, and factors limiting the proficiency of the respondents. The questionnaire was distributed with widely open access to the respondents and got several ninety-two varied responses from 1st to 4th-year student aides in different programs. The researchers used the descriptive survey method through data gathering instruments such as self-made questionnaires to gather the necessary data. The data gathered were treated statistically through the use of the percentage technique, weighted mean, and Likert-type scale. The major findings are: the administrative skills of student aides are highly competent in human relations while competent in namely records management, communication, and technical. When it comes to the factors limiting the proficiency of the student aides, the underlying indicators on records management, verbal communication, technical, and human relations are perceived as disagreeing while agreeing on the written communication, which means that limits their proficiency. As an output, the recommendation, which is an action plan, is focused on the skills enhancement of the student aides under administrative skills, namely Records Management, Communication, Technical, and Human Relations.

Abstract

The study aims to assess the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) competencies of Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) third-year students at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) in preparation for their pre-internship. The research problem centers on evaluating students’ readiness in identifying factors that influence their ICT proficiency, which is crucial for success in the modern professional workplace. The hypothesis assumes no significant relationship exists between the competency levels and the factors affecting the competencies. Using quantitative, correlational research design, data was collected through a structured online questionnaire distributed to 144 BSOA students. The study analyzed various competency levels: basic, intermediate, and advanced ICT skills. The results revealed that the majority of the students show basic to intermediate ICT proficiency, with several factors such as personal background, socio-economic status, and access to technology playing a role in their competency levels. A significant relationship was found between these factors and ICT competency, rejecting the null hypothesis. The study concludes that targeted interventions are necessary to enhance students’ ICT skills before their internships. The findings have implications for curriculum design, suggesting that integrating more advanced ICT training could better prepare students for the digital workplace demands.

Abstract

This study explores the learning challenges faced by Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) students at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges in mastering shorthand—a vital skill for efficient transcription in professional settings. Guided by the Skill Acquisition Theory of Fitts and Posner (1967), the research focuses on identifying difficulties in dictation and transcription and suggests ways to improve student proficiency. Despite technological advancements, shorthand remains relevant, though students often struggle due to limited practice and inadequate instructional support. Using a descriptive approach, the researchers surveyed 187 second-year BSOA students through questionnaires, with data analyzed using weighted mean and percentage techniques. Results show that while students demonstrate strong skills in dictation and transcription, they still encounter key challenges. These include difficulty with unfamiliar words, lack of focus during dictation, and poor penmanship leading to inaccurate strokes. These obstacles hinder mastery of shorthand. The study concludes that these issues are primarily due to insufficient exposure and practice. To address this, the researchers recommend implementing specialized training programs, incorporating real-life scenarios in instruction, organizing student focus groups, and conducting frequent assessments to monitor progress.

Abstract

This study evaluates the employee retention program of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) for the fiscal years 2020–2021, aiming to identify factors influencing retention and areas for improvement. Utilizing a descriptive-evaluative-correlational research design, data were collected from 190 respondents categorized as regular, casual, and job order employees. Key factors, including training attendance, career advancement, compensation, and awards, were found to significantly affect retention, with training ranked as the most influential. Results indicate disparities in access to benefits and development opportunities between regular and non-regular employees, emphasizing the need for equity-focused reforms. Retention strategies, such as morale-boosting activities and performance evaluations, strongly correlate with employee satisfaction. The study recommends enhancing inclusivity, equitable benefit distribution, and continuous professional development programs to strengthen workforce loyalty and reduce attrition. These findings underscore the critical role of sustainable human resource policies in fostering employee satisfaction and institutional efficiency.
