Abstract

The winning strategy for Regent candidate pair Dian Rachmat Yanuar and Tuti Andriani in the Kuningan Regency Regional Head Election (Pilkada) includes various political approaches designed to win voter support. This research aims to analyze the political marketing strategies used by these candidate pairs to obtain a majority of votes. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with the campaign team, direct observation of campaign activities, and documentation studies related to the candidate pairs' work programs. This research also uses inductive analysis to understand the patterns and effectiveness of the strategies implemented. The research results show that the DIRAHMATI couple uses segmentation, targeting and positioning strategies to reach various voter groups. Apart from that, political communication strategies, both through social media and face-to-face activities, play a big role in building a positive image and introducing candidate pairs to the public. This victory was also driven by their ability to manage local political dynamics, including collaboration with community leaders and gathering support from political parties that have strong influence in the area.

Abstract

Political culture plays an important role in determining the dynamics of general elections, especially in the context of Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in Indonesia. This research focuses on Ciwaringin Village in Ciwaringin District, Cirebon Regency, which shows low community political participation due to a parochial political culture. People in this village tend to be inactive in the election process, are influenced by the practice of money politics, and choose based on personal closeness and material lures, without understanding the vision and mission of potential leaders. This research uses a qualitative approach with literature study and interview methods to explore the factors that influence political participation, including social, economic, and educational aspects and the use of information media. Findings show that low political literacy and indifference to political issues result in apathy toward elections. Therefore, educational efforts and increasing political awareness are needed to encourage active community participation in the democratic process. It is hoped that this research can contribute to understanding political culture and community participation in Ciwaringin village and promote improvements in implementing the upcoming regional elections.

Abstract

Community participation in regional head elections is a crucial aspect of strengthening democracy and government legitimacy. This journal explores the importance of community participation in the context of the 2024 local elections, focusing on the Majalengka District Office in Majalengka Regency. Utilizing David Easton’s political system theory, this study highlights the relationship between the input of community participation and the output of public policy, as well as its impact on the quality of governance. The research employs a case study method, conducting in-depth interviews with various stakeholders, including voters, candidates for regional head, and community leaders. Through this approach, the study aims to understand the community's perceptions regarding the significance of their participation in elections and the factors influencing their level of involvement. Interview results indicate that while the community recognizes the importance of their vote, there are still obstacles that hinder broader participation. Data analysis reveals that the level of community participation is influenced by several factors, including education, political awareness, and access to information. Individuals with a better understanding of the political process tend to be more actively involved in elections. Additionally, the roles of media and community organizations in raising political awareness are identified as significant factors in encouraging participation. In the context of Easton’s theory, this research emphasizes that community participation is a vital input in the political system that affects public policy outputs. Increased participation is expected to yield policies that are more responsive and relevant to community needs, thereby enhancing government legitimacy. The study also underscores the necessity of support from various parties to create a conducive environment for community participation. In conclusion, this research indicates that achieving a better democracy requires systematic efforts to enhance community participation in the 2024 local elections. Recommendations include the implementation of political education programs and improved access to information for the community. With these measures, it is hoped that community participation will increase, ultimately strengthening the legitimacy and quality of governance in the region.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the optimal model in the integration of philosophical disciplines in the structure of the educational program of “Public Administration” students, as well as explore the features of the management of educational strategies suitable for the training of civil servants. The main focus of this research is: 1) academic management strategies to overcome curriculum overlap due to the dominance of philosophical disciplines in public administration study programs; 2) adaptation of educational programs for public administration students to be in line with the needs of the world of work, both at national and international levels; 3) characteristics of internationalization of public administration education programs, especially in the context of academic mobility and adaptation of the Indonesian public administration system to global standards. This research uses the cultural-historical analysis approach, comparative method, structural-functional method, and expert evaluation to explore and analyze problems and develop solutions. The research findings show that the dominance of traditional philosophy courses in the curriculum is often ineffective in shaping the competencies needed in the world of work. The research identified three main challenges: saturation of the curriculum with theoretical courses, lack of connection between the curriculum and the practical needs of the working world, and low use of English in teaching key courses. To address these issues, this research proposes restructuring the curriculum through the integration of three disciplinary groups: applied logic, cultural studies, and applied political science. In addition, the implementation of a contextualized bilingual learning model is also considered as a solution to improve the relevance of the curriculum. The uniqueness of this article lies in its approach that combines philosophical studies with managerial strategies in curriculum design, complemented by empirical experiences from international and cross-institutional cooperation. This article offers a reinterpretation of the utilization of philosophy as a tool for the development of professional competence in public administration education, not just as an abstract worldview.
