Abstract

Desa Pekan Tua, yang terletak di Kecamatan Kempas, Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir, Provinsi Riau, mencakup area seluas 152,81 km² pada koordinat bujur 102.76931 dan lintang -0.49684. Dengan iklim tropis dan curah hujan 2.827 mm pada tahun 2022, sebagian besar penduduknya bekerja di sektor perikanan, pertanian, dan perkebunan. Artikel ini menyoroti potensi pengembangan di bidang pertanian dan perkebunan melalui produksi eco-enzim. Dibuat dari limbah organik atau limbah dapur, air, dan gula merah, eco-enzim berfungsi sebagai pupuk cair ramah lingkungan yang meningkatkan pertumbuhan sayuran dan hasil pertanian. Selain memperbaiki tanah dengan mengurangi logam berat, menyesuaikan pH, dan melawan bakteri, mikroba, serta virus, eco-enzim juga bermanfaat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sebagai penyembuh luka dan pemurni udara serta polutan. Lebih lanjut, produksi eco-enzim memberikan petani alternatif pupuk cair yang lebih murah dibandingkan harga pasaran. Inovasi ini berpotensi bagi sektor pertanian dan masyarakat lokal, mendukung produktivitas tanaman sambil menawarkan solusi pupuk yang berkelanjutan dan ekonomis.

Abstract

This research aims to empower the community of Sukmajaya Village Rt.5/Rw.5 through training in the production of organic fertilizer from kitchen waste. This training is expected to increase the knowledge, skills, and environmental awareness of the community in managing kitchen waste productively. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach, where data is collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that the training successfully improved the community's knowledge and skills in processing kitchen waste into organic fertilizer. The application of organic fertilizer to agricultural land had a positive impact on soil fertility and crop yields. Additionally, this training successfully increased environmental awareness and opened new economic opportunities for the community. However, challenges such as limited composting facilities and the need for ongoing assistance remain obstacles to the optimal implementation of this program. This research suggests continued support, infrastructure development, and market access to strengthen the positive impacts of this program in the future.
