Abstract

This study aims to analyze the socio-demographic factors influencing voter participation in supporting Meutya Hafid during the 2024 Legislative Election in Deli Serdang Regency. Meutya Hafid, a politician from the Golkar Party, successfully secured 147,004 valid votes, with significant contributions from Deli Serdang. The research employs a quantitative approach with survey analysis, involving 100 respondents selected through stratified random sampling. The analyzed variables include age, gender, education level, occupation, income, and emotional connection with the candidate. The findings reveal that education level and emotional connection significantly impact voter participation, while age and gender have a moderate influence. Furthermore, the effectiveness of Meutya Hafid's political communication strategy via social media was found to strengthen the relationship between socio-demographic factors and voter participation. This study provides essential insights for developing data-driven political campaign strategies to enhance voter participation. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor sosio-demografis yang memengaruhi partisipasi pemilih dalam mendukung Meutya Hafid pada Pemilihan Legislatif 2024 di Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Meutya Hafid, politisi Partai Golkar, berhasil meraih 147.004 suara sah, dengan kontribusi signifikan dari Deli Serdang. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan analisis survei, melibatkan 100 responden yang dipilih secara stratified random sampling. Variabel yang dianalisis meliputi usia, jenis kelamin, tingkat pendidikan, pekerjaan, pendapatan, dan kedekatan emosional dengan kandidat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor pendidikan dan kedekatan emosional memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap partisipasi pemilih, sementara variabel usia dan jenis kelamin memiliki pengaruh moderat. Selain itu, efektivitas strategi komunikasi politik Meutya Hafid melalui media sosial juga ditemukan memperkuat hubungan antara faktor sosio-demografis dan partisipasi pemilih. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting bagi pengembangan strategi kampanye politik yang berbasis data sosio-demografis untuk meningkatkan partisipasi pemilih. Abstract

Every worker has the right to occupational safety protection, both formal and informal workers. The absence of social security can weaken worker protection and impact their performance and welfare. In Medan City, the level of informal worker participation in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program remains low due to a lack of information, economic constraints, and less than optimal socialization. BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, as a public legal entity responsible to the president, has a mandate to administer the Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Death Insurance (JKM), Old Age Insurance (JHT), and Pension Insurance (JP) programs for all workers, including migrant workers who have worked for at least six months. The low participation of informal workers indicates that worker welfare in Indonesia has not been fully met. This study aims to analyze the factors causing low BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participation among informal workers in Medan City and assess BPJS Ketenagakerjaan's efforts to increase their participation. A descriptive qualitative approach was used through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document studies. The analysis was conducted using the George C. Edwards III policy implementation model, which emphasizes aspects of communication, resources, implementer disposition, and bureaucratic structure. Preliminary results show that despite efforts to increase socialization and expand participation, obstacles such as affordability of contributions, lack of understanding of benefits, and inconsistent implementation in the field remain major challenges.
