Abstract

Man is God's noblest creation with specific graces, namely free will and reason. However, this free will has led man to sin, believing that all of man has fallen into sin. Originally, man was created in the image of God with a consciousness of transcendence. In Christianity, sin has a contagious force that is difficult to contain. This research uses qualitative methods with a descriptive approach to answer research problems with literature sources such as books, journals, and articles. The aim is to provide an overview of how digitization affects the beliefs and practices of Christianity. The transformation of hamartology in early Christianity shows a change in views about sin during the development of Christianity. Early understanding was influenced by Jewish tradition with the Torah as a way of obtaining forgiveness of sins. Augustine saw original sin as coming from Adam and Eve, inherited by every human being. The nature of sin is thought to be rooted in man's free will conditioned to sin. Augustine recognized the importance of free will but stated that human will is conditioned by original sin. Redemption is possible only through God's grace and faith in Christ.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Ephesians 2:14-18 with a focus on the theme of atonement presented by Christ in the context of the relationship between Jews and Gentiles. Through an exegetical approach, this study explores the meaning of the text in the historical and cultural context of the early church, as well as its implications for the theological understanding of ethnic unity in the body of Christ. Using text analysis methods, the study identified how Jesus' death on the cross served as a barrier breaker that separated the two groups, as well as opening access to God for all believers. The findings of this study show that the atonement achieved through Christ is not only spiritual but also social, which promotes the creation of an inclusive community within the church. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of Christ's role as a path of peace and its relevance in the context of today's multicultural society.

Abstract

AbstractThis study discusses in depth the meaning and function of tongues as contained in Paul's letters, using the theological approach of communication as the main framework of analysis. Its main focus is on the tension that arises between personal spiritual expression and the need for communication that builds and strengthens the congregation's life. The primary objective of this research is to develop a theological-communicative framework that is both contextual and applicable, particularly for use by the church, academics, and theological practitioners in addressing the dynamics and challenges of modern times. This research uses a qualitative method with an exploratory and interpretive literature study approach in order to understand spiritual language from the perspective of communication theology. By integrating the disciplines of biblical theology, communication studies, and contemporary literature, this study interprets 1 Corinthians 12–14 in a historically critical and hermeneutical manner, reassessing the role of tongues in today's contextual and community-building Christian spirituality.
