Abstract

Background: Poisoning is a major public health concern, it is recorded as one cause of morbidity and mortality among children around the world, and its severity depends on the quantity and type of the poison substance. Objectives: Assessing Basrah nursing college students' understanding of how to care for children who have poisoning was the primary goal of the study. Methods: The study was carried out at the University of Basrah/College of Nursing between November 12, 2023, and March 18, 2024, using a descriptive cross-sectional design to accomplish its goal. Two hundred third- and fourth-year nursing students were chosen as a non-probability sample. The study's instrument, which includes sociodemographic information about nurses and a questionnaire to evaluate nursing students on child poisoning, was developed based on prior research on the topic. The SPSS software version 20 was used to analyze the data, which was gathered via a self-administered method. Results: The study shows, a majority (77.5%) of the total samples were female, (and 70%) of nursing students’ poor knowledge and management about poisoning in children. Conclusions: According to the study, Basrah University nursing students lacked a fundamental understanding of poisoning cases. The researchers' suggestion is to introduce poisoning in the curriculum and increase the education of programmers about poisoning and any acute cases. Highlights: Child poisoning is a global health concern with significant morbidity and mortality. Assess Basrah nursing students' knowledge of pediatric poisoning management. Students lack knowledge; curriculum enhancement and educational programs are recommended. Keywords: Assessment, Knowledge, Nursing Students, Poisoning

Abstract

Delinquency among young people has become more prevalent and has affected their families, communities, and quality of life, all of which have contributed significantly to the problem. Parents are essential to a child's growth because they give them the support they need to deal with life's challenges. Parental effectiveness is believed to be a key factor in deciding the results for children of divorced parents, and divorce can have a substantial impact on a child's development. The purpose of this essay is to investigate how serious delinquency in teenagers is impacted by divorce or separation and how parental efficacy may mitigate this impact. Other significant factors contributing to divorce rates, according to Iraqi officials, are early marriages, broader economic challenges, and adultery fostered by modern technologies. In 2021, the 42-million-person nation's courts granted about 73,000 divorces, which is essentially the same number as in 2018. This represents an increase from an average of a little less than 51,700 annually between 2004 and 2014. There were 681 terrorist-related criminals, 601 thieves, and the fewest number of offenders (146) involved in narcotics offenses. With a total of 1453 criminals and a percentage of 64.9%, the 12–14 age group led the crime rate, followed by the 17–15-year-old group with 486 criminals and a rate of 21.7%, and the 9–11-year-old group with 300 criminals and a rate of 13.4%. Highlights: Teen Delinquency & Divorce: Divorce impacts youth delinquency; parental efficacy mitigates effects. Divorce Causes: Early marriage, economy, and technology-driven adultery increase divorce rates. Crime Statistics: Ages 12–14 lead crime rates; theft and terrorism most common. Abstract

Viral infections, which typically have a high rate of morbidity and mortality, are more challenging to identify. In particular, studies on rotavirus, hepatitis B virus, bacteriophages, enteric viruses, cytomegalovirus, and Epstein-Barr virus were evaluated for IBD. These results suggest that IBD patients are more likely to get viral infections. Therefore, medical practitioners should be more aware of the increased risk of viral infections in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. The incidence and prevalence of childhood-onset inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), which include ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease subtypes, have significantly increased in recent years, making them important pediatric chronic diseases on a global scale. Childhood-onset IBD is more widespread and dangerous than adult-onset IBD. The biological treatment for juvenile IBD is anti-tumor necrosis factor therapy, and more treatment options are urgently needed. Currently, this patient population is prescribed off-label other biologic medicines such as Steinman, and vedolizumab. Understanding the viral infection's causes, diagnosing and tracking the illness, treating patients, and managing the psychological and physical effects of having IBD are all crucial. Globally, the frequency of IBD varies greatly; estimates place the number of affected individuals at 2.2 million in Europe and 1.6 million in the United States. Highlights: Viral infections increase risk in IBD patients; awareness is crucial. Childhood-onset IBD is rising; better treatments are urgently needed. Global IBD cases exceed 3.8 million; management and diagnosis are vital. Keywords: Viral Infection, Enhanced, Inflammatory Bowel Disease
