Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate whether or not the use of DRAW Strategy is effective to develop reading comprehension of second grade students at SMP Negeri Satap Parigi Tengah. The method of this research was pre-experimental research design with one group pre-test post-test only. Since the sample of the research only one class, the researcher applied total sampling technique. The total number of students were 12. The instrument of data collection was test which administered twice called pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed descriptively and statistically. The result of data analysis showed that there is significant difference between the students’ achievement on pre-test and post-test. The students’ mean score on the pre-test increase from 42.2 to 81,62 on the post-test. By applying 0.05 significant level with 11 degree of freedom, it was found that the value of t-counted (46.53) is greater than the value of t-table (1.796). It indicates that the research hypothesis is accepted. Thus, the application of DRAW Strategy is effective to improve reading of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri Satap Parigi Tengah.

Abstract

Abstrak:Tujuan utama penelitan ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dalam upaya meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi operasi hitung bentuk aljabar di kelas VII A SMP Kristen Bala Keselamatan Palu. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang mengacu pada rancangan penelitian oleh Kemmis dan Mc. Teggart yang terdiri atas: 1) perencanaan tindakan, 2) pelaksanaan tindakan, 3) pengamatan tindakan, dan 4) refleksi tindakan. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII A sebanyak 28 orang, dan dipilih 3 orang siswa sebagai informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan model kooperatif tipe STAD dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi operasi hitung bentuk aljabar di kelas VII A SMP Kristen Bala Keselamatan Palu, dengan mengikuti tahap-tahap sebagai berikut: (1) menyampaikan tujuan pembelajaran dan memotivasi siswa, (2) menyajikan materi operasi hitung bentuk aljabar, (3) mengorganisasikan siswa kedalam kelompok belajar, (4) membimbing siswa dalam menyelesaikan LKS, (5) memberikan tes, dan (6) memberikan penghargaan. Kata Kunci: Kooperatif STAD, hasil belajar, operasi hitung bentuk aljabar. Abstract:The main purpose of this research is to describe the application model of cooperative learning type STAD in order to increase the result of students learning on system material of algebraic counting operation operations at the VII A Grade of SMP Christian Salvation Army Palu.This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) that referred to Kemmis dan Mc. Teggart research design, that was 1) planning, 2) acting, 3) oserving, and 4) reflecting. The research subject of this research was the students in grade VII A a total 28 people, and choose 3 students as the informant. The research refer that the application of STAD Model can improve the students’ achievement of algebraic counting operation operations on grade VII A of SMP Christian Salvation Army Palu, It follow the phases: 1) delivering the learning objective and motivates students, 2) presenting algebraic counting operation material, 3) organizing students in learning group, 4) supervising students in finishing students in learning sheet, 5) giving task, and 6) giving award.
