Abstract

The Holy Quran teaches universal values that are not limited to a specific race or gender. Allah, the Exalted, created humans in pairs to foster mutual understanding between them. Similarly, parental responsibility for child education should not be delegated to one party alone while the other remains indifferent. Among the societal phenomena is the stigma that the father's duty is solely to provide financially, while child education is entirely the mother's responsibility. Child education is considered a parental responsibility that encompasses various aspects, including faith, morals, physical, and social aspects. The concept of equality or "mubadalah" is highlighted as a framework that encourages fair cooperation and participation between men and women in the context of child education. In this context, equality is interpreted as mutual collaboration in raising children and in the interpretation of Islamic texts. Research is conducted to apply the "qira'ah mubadalah" approach in the context of child education. Gender equality and fair roles between men and women in child education are the primary focus of this research.

Abstract

Phenomena in the modern era show that adolescents are in a phase of crisis. Many adolescents are involved in deviant behavior and criminality; this condition is caused by the lack of attention and guidance from families and significant others. Families and significant others are obligated to educate adolescents, especially in matters of decision making. The method employed in this study is qualitative research based on library research. This study examines decision making verses related to the adolescent phase. There are five thematic narratives discussed: the story of Prophet Yusuf who was seduced by his master’s wife; the story of Prophet Ibrahim in his search for God leading to the destruction of idols; the story of the Companions of the Cave (Ashabul Kahfi) who took refuge in a cave; the story of the sacrifice of Prophet Ismail; and the story of Qabil who killed his brother. Based on these verses, interpretations by Muslim scholars are presented and subsequently analyzed using decision making theory. The results of this study indicate that the narratives mentioned above do not apply all methods within decision making theory; some of them prioritize intuition. This is because they are prophets and the friends of Allah, who possess intuition aligned with the divine light (nur Allah). In contrast, adolescents in the modern era are not in the same condition; they require education due to differing family and environmental backgrounds. Educating adolescents on the concept of decision making becomes a solution to minimize failures in making decisions that may have fatal consequences for their future. Abstract

This study aims to re-analyze the provisions of women's inheritance rights by applying the framework of Tafsīr Maqāṣidī initiated by Waṣfī 'Āsyūr Abū Zaid, and to examine the relevance of this approach in addressing contemporary issues of justice. This research is a qualitative library-based study. The method employed is descriptive-analytical, applying the framework of Tafsīr Maqāṣidī Waṣfī 'Āsyūr Abū Zaid as the primary analytical tool for examining the inheritance verses (āyāt al-mawārīth) in the Qur'an alongside the interpretations of classical and contemporary exegetes (mufasirūn). The findings reveal that Abū Zaid's maqāṣidī approach views inheritance law not as rigid mathematical rules, but as an instrument to achieve noble objectives (maqāṣid) such as proportional justice (al-'adl al-tanāsubī), where the portion of inheritance is closely related to the burden of financial responsibility. This approach concludes that the spirit of sharī'ah justice can still be realized in the modern context through social ijtihad such as family deliberations (musyāwarah), grants (hibah), and wills (waṣiyyah), which align with the spirit of the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) in Indonesia. Thus, Tafsīr Maqāṣidī offers a constructive middle ground between adherence to textual authority and responsiveness to changing times.
