Abstract

This research aims to explore the tension between technocratic state legal norms and customary norms (local wisdom) in the process of recognizing the living spaces of indigenous communities in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN). Through the lens of group dynamics and legal pluralism, this study dissects how administrative verification mechanisms often fail to capture the sociological existence of unwritten customary law. Utilizing a qualitative single case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 122 Multiple Helix informants and legal documentation studies. The research findings reveal the phenomenon of "administrative violence," where the requirement for proof of customary land (ulayat) in the form of digital maps and formal documents becomes an existential barrier for local communities. Although IKN has successfully instilled modern disciplinary norms, there is a massive gap in embracing authentic socio-cultural legitimacy. The research recommends the relaxation of customary evidentiary requirements based on oral testimony and anthropological evidence to realize a just "City for All" vision.

Abstract

Subdistrict Lembang, as a leading tourist destination in Indonesia, has significant potential for the development of sustainable rental villas. This study aims to analyze effective regional planning strategies in the development of rental villas, focusing on sustainability and tourism management. A mixed methods approach was used, combining surveys with 311 tourists and interviews with local stakeholders. The results of the quantitative analysis showed that 80% of tourists prefer environmentally friendly accommodations that are integrated with nature, with 65% opting for renewable energy, 70% supporting efficient waste management, and 75% preferring environmentally friendly building materials. Interviews revealed that 70% of stakeholders believe that good planning can enhance the tourist experience and minimize negative impacts on the local community. Local community involvement has also proven to be essential in improving economic welfare and providing authentic experiences for tourists. The findings suggest that the development of rental villas in Lembang should consider appropriate zoning, the integration of environmentally friendly technologies, and collaboration between the government, villa managers, and local communities to achieve long-term sustainability. This study makes a significant contribution to the development of sustainable regional planning and sustainable tourism theories, and offers practical recommendations for local government policies.

Abstract

Abstract

This study rigorously assesses the efficacy of urban planning and development in Jakarta, a dynamic megacity confronting multifaceted urbanization challenges and complex governance issues. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the investigation critically analyzes the interactive role of the Penta-helix collaboration model and the nuanced perceptions of its populace. Qualitative data were meticulously gathered through in-depth interviews with key Penta-helix stakeholders, providing rich contextual insights. Concurrently, quantitative data were systematically collected via a comprehensive survey administered to 400 Jakarta residents, enabling broader statistical generalization. The research focuses on five pivotal variables: policy inclusivity, program implementation effectiveness, environmental sustainability, public participation, and spatial innovation. Preliminary findings indicate varying degrees of success across these areas, often revealing disparities between policy intentions and on-the-ground realities. While an initial congruence of 70-85% between qualitative themes and quantitative perceptions was anticipated, the actual outcomes, particularly concerning inclusivity and participation, suggest a lower alignment, underscoring significant gaps in urban governance. This study offers empirically-driven recommendations for fostering more adaptive, equitable, and sustainable urban development strategies in Jakarta, contributing valuable insights to the discourse on megacity management in developing contexts.

Abstract

This study examines how fashion trends in Indonesia between 1970 and 2000 served as a direct reflection of their surrounding socio-political dynamics. Fashion is not merely an aesthetic phenomenon but a cultural artifact that actively responds to and reflects shifts in power. Using a convergent mixed-methods approach, this research integrates quantitative analysis (regression and TF-IDF on media archives) with qualitative historical analysis. The findings reveal a clear evolution: in the 1970s, fashion was politicized as an instrument of cultural nationalism by the New Order regime; the 1980s turned it into a showcase for economic development success; the 1990s transformed it into an arena for symbolic resistance amidst crisis; and the post-1998 period triggered an explosion of individual expression in the Reformation era. This study concludes that the evolution of Indonesian fashion is inextricably linked to the nation's political narrative, transitioning from a tool of control to a symbol of liberation.
