Abstract

Love scams, increasingly prevalent in Indonesia, represent a new form of gender-based violence in the digital world. This study aims to trace the history of love scams as a manifestation of online gender-based violence, identify the patterns of manipulation used, and assess the adequacy of legal protection for victims within the framework of applicable regulations. Using a legal-normative approach and qualitative content analysis, this research examines secondary data consisting of legal regulations, court rulings, and actual case studies involving victims. Findings show that love scams not only have financial consequences but also leave deep psychological trauma due to emotional manipulation in fictitious relationships. This pattern of violence is formed through five stages: creating an attractive identity, seduction, requests for money, online sexual harassment, and the revelation of lies. However, the three main legal instruments in Indonesia—the TPKS Law, the ITE Law, and the Penal Code—do not explicitly regulate love scams as digital gender-based violence, leaving legal loopholes that harm victims. This study emphasizes the importance of harmonizing regulations with the principle of responsive law, so that legal protection is more adaptive to technological developments and the complexity of gender-based violence in cyberspace.

Abstract

Purpose – Explicitly, the rules for registering a marriage in the Al-Qur’an are not explained. However, if we trace the text through historical and interpretive aspects, some texts refer to marriage registration. This research presents two questions related to the historicity of marriage registration in Islam, the texts of marriage registration in the Al-Qur’an and its legal relevance in the contemporary era. Methods – This qualitative analysis is based on library research data that traces the history and texts of the Al-Qur’an related to marriage registration. Findings – This research concludes several findings: First, legal regulations for marriage registration in Islam are rarely found, but texts have been found that have meaning, even though they do not lead to marriage registration, so interpretation is needed. Second, marriage registration is then carried out in law to provide protection within the scope of family law practice. Research implications – Marriage registration is needed as a form of protection in family law practice in Indonesia. The background of the Al-Qur’anic texts is not explained due to certain conditions in the past, but in the search, it is implied that recording something makes things easier.

Abstract

This article examines the acculturation of Islamic teachings and local customs through a sociological study of the Nyadran tradition in Central Java. The study explores how Islamic values are integrated into local practices while preserving both traditions. It aims to explain how Nyadran functions as a medium for maintaining social harmony, preserving cultural identity, and embedding Islamic values within Javanese customs. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach, analyzing books, journals, and previous studies on religious and cultural acculturation. The theoretical framework draws on sociological perspectives such as structural functionalism, symbolic interactionism, and the sociology of religion. Findings show that Nyadran, originally a form of ancestral veneration, has transformed through Islamic influence into a syncretic tradition involving communal prayers, grave visits, and social gatherings. These activities embody Islamic values like ibadah, muamalah, and birrul walidain. Sociologically, Nyadran serves as a social institution that strengthens religio-cultural identity, fosters social cohesion, and ensures the intergenerational transmission of religious and moral values within a pluralistic society. This study contributes to the discourse on religious acculturation and Islam Nusantara. Keywords: Acculturation; Nyadran; Islamic Teachings; Sociology
