Abstract

Environmental turbulence manifested by uncertainties and complexities has been extensively studied recently, especially that the 21st century is marked by significant phenomena like the shift to Digitalization and the COVID-19 Pandemic. With the rapid growth of e-commerce in the Philippines, increasing interest in research about it is also observed, but only few studies focused on online sellers. Being part of the MSMEs, which comprises 99.17% of the industry, it is now high time to explore the lived experiences of online sellers during the COVID 19 Pandemic. An interpretative phenomenological analysis based on hermeneutics was used to make sense of the responses of six participants from the Greater Metro Manila Area, gathered from semi- structured interviews based on Moustakas’ data gathering and analysis methods. There were eleven themes collected, and from these themes the textural and structural description were synthesized through the universal structure. Reciprocity of exchange was mainly the reason in establishing their online businesses while personal challenges were mostly what have been experienced. On how they experienced the phenomenon, most responses manifested new strategies of resilience, and how they see the future of their business is focused more on their envisioned future.

Abstract

The purpose of this qualitative case study was to conduct an in-depth analysis of the potential of Forex Trading and investing in developing financial resiliency among the employees of an Engineering and Consultancy Firm in the Philippines. This is a qualitative single case study of 10 employees of the company that were interviewed regarding the potential of investing in forex trading as a means to attain financial resiliency. Qualitative data for this study were gathered through one-session, semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, documents, journaling, and observations. Thematic analysis following Braun and Clarke’s method for analysing qualitative data was used in understanding the qualitative data. Results have shown that participants have identified several challenges that seem to slow them down in earning money for them to obtain their aspiration of becoming financially resilient. It was also shown that participants thought that venturing in new business, stock market and forex investments, and sideline jobs were the most frequent responses recorded that may serve as solutions to the challenges. It is important to note that most of the participants were affirmative upon being asked if they would try foreign exchange investments as a potential means of achieving financial resiliency. Among others, the most significant manner of addressing financial challenges lamented by the participants was having a well-conditioned mind so that a well-planned long-term goal will be established. It is recommended to explore more related literature that tackles financial education in the Philippines and note the statistical number of those who are financially literate as this could be a contributing factor why the participants of this study lack concrete saving plans. Moreover, further exploration on the trend of foreign exchange investment is also suggested including the use of digital platforms for information dissemination regarding finance.

Abstract

The purpose of this qualitative case study is to explore the potential value of an innovative business model on pediatric immunization record management which will serve as the basis for the development of a digital platform for the use of pediatric consultants and medical secretaries at a private secondary hospital in Quezon City. The study utilized a qualitative case study involving the pediatric consultants and medical secretaries of a private secondary hospital in Quezon City. Qualitative data for this study were gathered through in-depth, semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, documents, journaling, and observations. Results have shown that pediatric consultants and medical secretaries follow only one way of arranging patients' records which is through alphabetical order using the surname. Many clinics and hospitals still rely on paper-based medical records to document patients' information. All participants shared the same difficulties and sentiments when it comes to the problems they have in the current way they deal with immunization records. Based from the statements of the participants, results revealed that pediatric consultants and medical secretaries support and are in favor of the use of a web-based record management system. However, some participants stated their apprehensions for the security of patient information. Further study that focuses on formal training is recommended to increase the confidence of the healthcare workers in utilizing digital record management systems and intense exploration of the potential challenges in adapting a digitized records management system must be conducted.

Abstract

Procurement has always mirrored how institutions value fairness and discipline. In the Philippines, a major turning point came with the transition from Republic Act 9184 to RA 12009. This reform renewed the government’s push for transparency and digital integration while encouraging professionalism among procurement staff. The private sector, though ruled by its own internal frameworks, faces a similar public demand to demonstrate ethics and accountability. Few studies, however, have looked at both sides in one frame. This study brought together 36 procurement professionals—half from government, half from private organizations—through a structured survey and 10 follow-up interviews. Their stories reveal the same ethical spirit but different approaches: government workers lean on compliance and transparency; corporate buyers emphasize efficiency and flexibility. Most welcomed RA 12009, though many said that paperwork, supplier diversity, and training remain persistent hurdles. Despite these, both sectors show readiness to learn from one another, particularly in ethics, documentation, and digital systems. The research points to one message: integrity thrives best when systems are clear, people are trained, and collaboration is encouraged.
