Abstract

Writing learning is one of the fundamental language skills in education because writing not only functions as a means of communication but also as a tool to develop students' critical and creative thinking skills. This study examines the effectiveness of the interpretation method in writing learning for students majoring in Heavy Equipment Engineering at SMK Negeri 1 Bunyu. The qualitative approach with an interpretive paradigm is used to understand students' subjective experiences in processing, understanding, and conveying information in writing. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, narrative presentation, and verification with triangulation and member check. The study results showed that applying the interpretation method in matching, completing, and presentation/discussion exercises improved students' abilities in understanding, using, analyzing, and creating according to Bloom's Taxonomy. Students showed a high level of success in understanding the contents of the text (83–88%) but still needed reinforcement in the aspects of analysis and argument development (58–65%). According to Gronlund's theory, the assessment holistically covered cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Thus, the interpretation method has proven effective in improving the quality of writing learning, which is not only technical but also reflective, contextual, and relevant to the needs of the vocational work world.

Abstract

This study examines syntagmatic relations in Indonesian sentence structures and their implications in language learning. The background of this study is based on the importance of understanding syntagmatic relations as the basis for constructing meaningful and grammatical sentences in Indonesian language learning. Using a descriptive-qualitative approach based on literature studies, this study analyzes syntagmatic relations at three linguistic levels: phonology, morphology, and syntax. The study results indicate that syntagmatic relations are linear relations between language elements whose presence sequentially forms a meaningful structure. At the phonological level, this relationship appears in the sequence of phonemes that cannot be changed without changing the word's meaning. In morphology, syntagmatic relations are seen in the arrangement of morphemes by grammatical rules.Meanwhile, at the syntactic level, this relationship plays a vital role in forming grammatical and coherent sentences. This study also shows that understanding syntagmatics is very important in teaching Indonesian, especially in improving students' abilities in constructing and analyzing sentence structures systematically. The synthesis of Ferdinand de Saussure's structural theory with a modern linguistic and pedagogical approach shows the real contribution of the syntagmatic concept in the context of language education. This study concludes that syntagmatic relations are essential in analyzing language structure and, practically, in increasing the effectiveness of Indonesian language learning.
