Abstract

Well R, a directional well with a depth of 8900 ft, has experienced significant production decline since its initial output of 2875 BOPD in 2011, now producing only 21 BOPD. This study aims to determine the remaining oil saturation and identify the optimal perforation intervals for Well R in Sukowati Field. Located in the East Java Basin, Sukowati Field has carbonate formations with potential as hydrocarbon reservoirs. The study utilized both open hole log and cased hole log data, particularly focusing on Carbon-Oxygen Log (C/O Log) analysis within a depth interval of 8100-8360 ft, to evaluate hydrocarbon potential in cased formations. The initial open hole log analysis identified productive zones through gamma ray, resistivity, and porosity logs. The cased hole log interpretation confirmed potential hydrocarbon layers, specifically between 8200-8300 ft, with an oil saturation of approximately 40%. Based on the findings, a new perforation interval is recommended between 8255-8285 ft to increase hydrocarbon flow, enhancing oil recovery from Well R. This research offers insights into optimizing oil production through advanced well-logging techniques in matured fields.
