Uncontrolled use of social media among adolescents can have an impact on mental health. The prevalence of incidents in 2021 according to WHO globally, 1 in 7 (14%) children aged 10-19 years experience mental health disorders, in 2022 in Indonesia there were 15.5 million (34.9%) cases aged 10-17 years, while the results of research in D.I Yogyakarta Sleman Regency in 2023 became the highest area, namely 2,000 cases from 21.27% of adolescents who experienced mental development problems. Mental health disorders are a state of imbalance in a person, centered on feelings, emotions and drives (motives/desires). This study aims to determine the relationship between social media use and the incidence of mental health disorders in adolescents. This study uses a correlational method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 209 students with total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Spearman-Rank Test. This study shows that social media use does not always have a direct impact on adolescent mental health. The use of normal social media does not always prevent someone from experiencing mental health disorders. The results of the Spearman-Rank test obtained a p-Value of 0.575 on the difficulty scale and a p-Value of 0.0221 on the strength scale, meaning p Value> 0.0005, this indicates that there is no relationship between social media use and the incidence of mental health disorders in adolescents. It is hoped that this study can provide knowledge as a support and basis for consideration in the problem of mental health disorders in adolescents.
