Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a growing global health problem and a leading cause of death. Health cadres play an important role in the detection and management of NCDs through health monitoring and community education. This community service aims to describe the role of health cadres in early detection of NCDs in the working area of Puskesmas Malang District. The training consisted of three main sessions, namely material on anthropometric measurements, the use of tensimeters and glucometers, and training in filling out NCD questionnaires commonly used in community health monitoring. This activity not only focuses on theory but also provides opportunities for participants to practice directly after the presentation session. Although most cadres have attended training, the application of skills in the use of medical devices and education related to NCDs is still limited. Continuous training and education is needed so that health cadres can optimise early detection and management of NCDs in the community.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The growth and development of children is impacted by stunting, a serious public health issue. Mother knowledge is one aspect that affects stunting. Stunting-related education by booklets could improve mothers' awareness. To analyze the effect of education using booklets on maternal knowledge related to stunting. The study design used was a pre-experiment with a one group pre-test and post-test approach. The sample in this study were mothers who had children aged 0-5 years. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The instrument used was a stunting knowledge questionnaire. The results of the Wilcoxon-test statistical test showed that there was a significant effect before and after education using booklets on mothers' knowledge related to stunting (p value = 0.002). Therefore, it can be concluded that providing education using booklets is effective in increasing mothers' knowledge related to stunting. Nurses could provide education using educational media such as booklets to increase mothers' knowledge related to stunting. Keywords: Education, Booklet, Stunting, Mothers' Knowledge

Abstract

Background: Patients with stroke have great challenges in dealing with their disease, due to long-term disability and even death. Post-stroke self-management can be one approach in the rehabilitation program. Objective: The aim of this review is to identify the effectiveness of self-management interventions in post-stroke patients in carrying out rehabilitation programs. Methods: A scoping review was conducted based on PRISMA guidelines. Four electronic databases (Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and PubMed) were searched for English-language articles published from 2016 to 2022. The search used combinations of the keywords “self-management,” “rehabilitation,” “post-stroke patients,” “stroke patients,” and “experimental study.” Studies were selected using inclusion and exclusion criteria structured with the PICOS framework, resulting in the identification of 10 eligible experimental studies, including randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental designs Results: The self-management interventions consistently produced positive outcomes for post-stroke patients. The interventions improved self-efficacy, self-management behaviors, functional abilities, quality of life, treatment adherence, and performance of daily activities. Various strategies such as health empowerment interventions, structured self-management programs, goal-oriented approaches, digital health tools, and virtual reality—demonstrated effectiveness in enhancing patients’ preparedness for community reintegration and reducing complications and rehospitalization. Conclusion: Technology utilization may be considered for the development of appropriate self-management in stroke patients.
