Abstract

The recent phenomenon of radicalism is attributed to rigid and intellectualistic interpretations of religious texts. Referring to the classical thought of Ibn Arabi, there is a common thread in understanding religious texts that involves not only a literal (dhahir) approach but also an inner (batin) approach. This inner approach creates a more inclusive and universal understanding of religious texts. The inner approach introduced by Ibn Arabi, known as ta’wil, is understood in philosophical studies as hermeneutics. Ibn ‘Arabi’s thought is particularly interesting for deeper examination because it introduces various essential themes in Sufism, such as Wahdat al-Wujud, the concept of prophethood, entities, and others. This is inseparable from his paradigm, rich in hermeneutics based on spiritual experience and distinctive mystical knowledge, setting him apart from other mystics. This study employs a literature review method with a hermeneutical approach to further explore Ibn Arabi’s hermeneutical concepts within the context of Islam. The findings indicate that the characteristics of Ibn Arabi’s knowledge paradigm can be observed through his hermeneutical methods, which are derived from the power of imagination, the use of symbols in understanding texts, and epistemology and sources of knowledge. These characteristics contribute to the development of epistemology in understanding religious texts, such as the Qur’an and Hadith.

Abstract

Character education has become increasingly crucial in facing the complexity of challenges in the 21st century. Education serves as one of the fundamental pillars in shaping individual character and personality. Amidst the growing religious and cultural pluralism, values-based education becomes more relevant in cultivating a generation with global awareness and inclusive attitudes. The purpose of this research is to delve into the implementation of Living Values Education (LVE) approach that integrates character values with the principles of religious moderationtn the Madania educational environment. This study uses a type of qualitative research method with a case study approach. The findings indicate that Madania School adopts the Living Values Education (LVE) approach by integrating an understanding of religious moderation to create an inclusive, multicultural learning environment that focuses on character development. This approach engages educators as role models in applying character values and encourages students to internalize these values through various daily activities and interactions.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a country rich in cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, has faced complex challenges in achieving social harmony and inter-religious harmony. Over time, the complexity of religious diversity has given rise to a number of problems, including inter-religious conflicts, insults, and a lack of understanding of the principles of religious harmony. This study aims to enrich the understanding of the concept of religious harmony from the perspective of religious philosophy as well as identify the contribution of religious philosophy to enriching the understanding of religious harmony in the context of religious diversity in Indonesia. This research uses a descriptive research method with a phenomenological approach. Based on the analysis conducted, it can be interpreted that religious harmony is a fundamental concept in the lives of religion and society. This relates to the formation of an attitude of tolerance, mutual respect, and understanding differences. In the philosophy of religion, religious harmony can be built through Synergizing Religious pluralism, involving Inter-Religious Dialogue, and implementing Religious Ethics and Morality holistically. Keywords: Religious Harmony, Religious Philosophy, Tolerance.   Abstrak Indonesia, sebagai negara yang kaya akan keberagaman budaya, etnis, dan agama, telah menghadapi tantangan kompleks dalam mencapai harmoni sosial dan kerukunan antarumat beragama. seiring berjalannya waktu, kompleksitas keberagaman agama telah menimbulkan sejumlah permasalahan, termasuk konflik antaragama, diskriminasi, dan kurangnya pemahaman tentang prinsip-prinsip kerukunan beragama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperkaya pemahaman tentang konsep kerukunan beragama dalam perspektif filsafat agama, serta mengidentifikasi kontribusi filsafat agama dalam memperkaya pemahaman tentang kerukunan beragama dalam konteks keberagaman agama di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kerukunan beragama merupakan konsep fundamental dalam kehidupan beragama dan masyarakat. Hal ini berkaitan dengan terbentuknya sikap toleransi, saling menghormati, dan memahami perbedaan. Dalam filsafat agama, kerukunan beragama dapat dibangun melalui Mensinergikan Pluralitas Agama, melibatkan Dialog Inter-Religius, serta menerapkan Etika dan Moralitas Agama secara holistik.  Kata kunci: Kerukunan Beragama, Filsafat Agama, Toleransi.
