Abstract

Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam, as one of Indonesia's main airports, plays a vital role in supporting both domestic and international air mobility. However, its proximity to protected forests and green open spaces poses a serious challenge in the form of wildlife hazard risks in the airside area. The main problem identified is the potential for flight disturbances and accidents caused by the presence of wild animals such as birds, monkeys, stray dogs, and cats, which can lead to incidents like bird strikes and Foreign Object Debris (FOD). This study aims to determine the level of wildlife hazard risk in the airside area of Hang Nadim International Airport and to provide effective control recommendations to improve aviation safety. This research uses a descriptive method with qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data were collected through field observations, interviews with relevant staff, and documentation of wildlife hazard incidents that occurred from 2022 to early 2024. Risk analysis was carried out using the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) method, by identifying the types of wild animals that frequently appear, the frequency of incidents, and the impact on airport operations. The results show that the level of wildlife hazard risk in the airside area of Hang Nadim International Airport is categorized as moderate to high, especially for incidents involving birds and monkeys. Events such as aircraft delays during takeoff or landing, as well as the discovery of animal carcasses on the runway, indicate the need for more effective management. Therefore, wildlife hazard risk management must be a priority to ensure the safety and smooth operation of flights at Hang Nadim International Airport.

Abstract

Security and safety assurance services are crucial aspects in the aviation world that have a direct impact on passenger satisfaction at airports. This study aims to examine the effect of flight security and safety assurance services on passenger satisfaction at Mopah Merauke Airport. This study uses a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents as research samples. The population in this study were passengers at Mopah Merauke Airport. There are three variables in this study, namely security services (X1), safety assurance (X2), and passenger satisfaction (Y). The research instruments were analyzed using validity and reliability tests. Respondent data were processed using the classical assumption test, while the research hypothesis was tested using multiple linear regression analysis, partial test (t test), model feasibility test (F test), and coefficient of determination test (R²). The results of data processing and testing of the three variables showed that security services had a positive effect of 0.142 on passenger satisfaction. The results of the t-test of the Security Service variable (X1) show a t-value of 2.126, which means that the calculated t> t table (2.126> 1.985) with a significance level of 0.036 <0.05. This shows that there is an influence of the Security Service variable (X1) on Passenger Satisfaction (Y). Safety assurance also has a positive influence of 0.599 on passenger satisfaction. The results of the t-test of the Safety Assurance variable (X2) show a t-value of 5.848, which means that the calculated t> t table (5.848> 1.985) with a significance level of 0.000 <0.05. This shows that there is an influence of the Safety Assurance variable (X2) on Passenger Satisfaction (Y). The results of the determination coefficient test show an R value of 0.643 with an R-square calculation result of 0.413. This means that the Security Service (X1) and Safety Assurance (X2) variables are able to influence Passenger Satisfaction (Y) of passengers at Mopah Merauke Airport by 41.3%.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the high intensity of activity in the apron area, the limited number of personnel, and the implementation of a shift work system in the Apron Movement Control (AMC) unit at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport. These conditions have the potential to cause excessive workloads for personnel, which can impact the effectiveness of operational supervision and disrupt their physical and mental health. The main objective of this study is to analyze the workload of AMC personnel and determine the ideal number of workers to ensure optimal supervision in the apron area. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through direct observation and the distribution of questionnaires to all personnel activities in the AMC unit. Data analysis used the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) method to calculate the total actual working time required, and compared it with the standard full-time working hours according to employment regulations. The results showed that the workload of AMC personnel is quite high. Of the seven personnel analyzed, two people obtained an FTE value above 1.28, indicating an overload condition, four people were in the FTE range of 1.00 to 1.28, which is considered normal, and one person had an FTE value below 1.00, indicating an underload condition. These findings indicate an imbalance in the distribution of workload among personnel. As a result, some personnel must perform multiple tasks simultaneously, potentially compromising the quality of oversight and operational safety in the apron area. Based on these findings, a re-evaluation of the division of tasks and workforce within the AMC unit is recommended to create a proportional workload and support optimal safety and operational performance at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
