Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation and impact of the personality development program at the Special Development Institution for Children Class II Bandar Lampung in reducing the suicide risk among juvenile inmates. This research employs a qualitative method with data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and document analysis. The research informants include LPKA officers and juvenile inmates at risk of suicide. The study results indicate that the personality development program Salam Pemasyarakatan (Salampas) and religious programs play an essential role in preventing the suicide risk among juvenile inmates. The implementation of this program focuses on emotional and spiritual guidance, routinely provided by officers and religious instructors. However, shortcomings were identified in the form of insufficient control and a lack of psychological experts to support the mental health of the juvenile inmates. The proposed solution is the Sehat Mental Anak Binaan (Semabi), which includes mental health screening and counseling activities for the inmates. This research recommends greater involvement of psychological experts and stricter control to ensure the sustainability of the program. Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of the deradicalization program for terrorist inmates in the process of pledging allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia at Cipinang Class I Correctional Institution, as well as identifying factors that hinder the effectiveness of the program. The results indicate that the implementation of the deradicalization program includes several stages, ranging from religious guidance to skills training to psychological counseling. However, this program has not been fully effective due to various obstacles. The main inhibiting factors include the lack of skills and special training for officers, officers' low interest in becoming Guardians of Terrorist Convicts, as well as limited resources and support from internal prison parties. In addition, the involvement of third parties such as clerics and psychologists often replaces the role of prison officers, who should be more active in the deradicalization process. This study recommends increased training and motivation for prison officers to strengthen the implementation of deradicalization programs more effectively and sustainably. Abstract

This study aims to explore efforts to prevent sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in Banjarmasin Class IIA Correctional Institution. The methods used in this study included observation and interviews with prisoners and health workers to gain an in-depth understanding of the health conditions and prevention practices implemented. The results showed that prevention measures taken include initial health checks for new inmates, including health history assessment and HIV testing for those at high risk. In addition, health socialization is conducted through routine programs such as morning exercises to raise awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Findings also revealed that factors contributing to the transmission of STDs include deviant sexual behavior, institutional overcapacity, and the lack of awareness of prisoners towards their health. This study emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach in addressing health issues in prisons, which focuses not only on treatment but also on health education and counseling as an effective prevention strategy. The results are expected to provide recommendations for prison managers in creating a safer and healthier environment for prisoners. Keywords: Infectious Diseases; Sexual; Correctional Institutions

Abstract

This study seeks to identify factors leading prisoners to commit child protection crimes and evaluate the effectiveness of the inmate development program at the detention center. Utilizing a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. It identifies three factors influencing behavioral changes: predisposing, enabling, and reinforcing factors. The findings indicate that insufficient knowledge of consequences, a negative social environment, and inadequate family support significantly contribute to these crimes. To address these issues, the study recommends the “Inmate Rehabilitation and Counseling” program, aimed at enhancing legal awareness among inmates, their families, and society while creating a supportive environment. The program includes individual and group guidance along with social skills training to improve the overall quality of life for inmates. Keywords: Prisoners; Casual Factors; Rehabilitation, Counseling
