Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of mobile phone use on the spiritual life of the GBT Kristus Peneburan Semarang congregation. This study uses quantitative and qualitative research methods with a sample of 50 respondents. The development of technology, especially smartphones, has had a significant impact on various aspects of life, including the spiritual life of Christians. This study aims to identify and analyze the impact of mobile phone use on the spiritual life of the congregation at the Bethel Tabernacle Church (GBT) of Christ the Redeemer Semarang. A qualitative approach was used with the methods of observation, interviews, and distributing questionnaires to a number of congregations. The results of the study show that mobile phones have a dual impact on the spiritual life of the congregation. On the one hand, mobile phones facilitate access to spiritual resources such as digital Bibles, online sermons, and virtual prayer groups, which can increase congregational engagement in religious activities, improving the ability to communicate with fellow congregations. On the other hand, excessive mobile phone use can disrupt the focus of worship, reduce direct social interaction, reduce time for prayer and Bible reading, increase the risk of dependence on technology and trigger spiritual distractions. This study also identified factors that affect the impact of mobile phones on the spiritual life of the GBT congregation of Christ the Redeemer Semarang, such as age, education level, and theological understanding. The implication of this study is the need to develop wise strategies in the use of mobile phones among the congregation with an emphasis on the use of technology to strengthen spiritual life and minimize its negative impacts.

Abstract

Christian religious education has undergone significant transformations throughout church history. From the apostolic era to the modern age, Christian religious education has evolved and adapted to social, cultural, and theological changes. This article will examine the transformation of Christian religious education throughout church history, focusing on changes in the goals, methods, and content of Christian religious education. The transformation of Christian Religious Education (PAK) is a historical and theological process that takes place along with the church's journey in responding to the social, political, and cultural contexts throughout the ages. This study aims to trace significant changes in PAK from the Early Church era to the contemporary era. With a qualitative, historical, and theological approach, this study explores the dynamics of Christian faith education through a review of primary and secondary literature, as well as an analysis of church history documents. Each period in church history brings different educational models and approaches. The Early Church emphasized oral tradition and living communities, the Middle Ages emphasized church authority and clerical education, the Reformation opened access to Scripture and general literacy, while the modern and contemporary eras face the challenges of secularization and digitalization. From this journey, it can be seen that relevant PAK is one that is rooted in the Gospel and at the same time responsive to changes in the times.  As stated by Dr. Jan S. Aritonang, "Church history is a reflection of how believers struggle to shape spiritual life, including in faith education in the midst of a changing world." Therefore, this study aims to Research Objectives, Analyze the development of PAK from the early church era to the modern church. Abstract

This study explores the relevance of Pentecostal ecclesiology in the digital era of Society 5.0, emphasizing the need for theological reflection on how technology reshapes church life, worship, and spiritual experience. The main objective is to analyze how Pentecostal theology, rooted in the experience of the Holy Spirit, can respond to the challenges of a hyperconnected society without losing its doctrinal integrity. Using a qualitative method with a theological literature review, this research synthesizes various sources discussing Pentecostal theology, digital ecclesiology, and the intersection between faith and technology. The findings reveal that Pentecostal ecclesiology must reinterpret its understanding of the church as a Spirit-driven community that transcends physical and digital boundaries. The study identifies opportunities for hybrid worship models, digital discipleship, and online spiritual communities, alongside challenges related to authenticity, sacramentality, and ethical digital engagement. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of Spirit-led discernment, digital literacy, and leadership transformation to sustain the church’s spiritual vitality amid technological disruption. The implication for further research is the development of contextual Pentecostal ecclesiology that integrates theological depth with technological adaptability, ensuring that digital innovation enhances rather than diminishes the communal and incarnational essence of the church
