Abstract

The preparation of financial statements is an important but daunting task for most MSMEs. Many business actors express their dissatisfaction because often the financial statements made do not accurately reflect the available funds. Through the use of cloud-based smartphone applications, business actors will get assistance in making basic financial reports as part of this community activity. This community service project was held in collaboration with MSME actors in the city of Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. The following are the components of the mentoring and training model: (1) Training on the Preparation of Financial Statements and Cost of Production Statements; (2) Training on the Preparation of Excel-Based Financial Statements and Cash Flows; (3) Training on the Preparation of Financial Statements and Cloud-Based Applications; and (4) Business Assistance Training (Business Clinic). Participating businesses can make good use of the training and mentoring they get by focusing on developing their companies rather than worrying about financial statements. A number of benefits obtained by MSME participants when using cloud-based financial applications include: ease of business planning, availability of solid data for decision-making, ease of knowing the exact amount of business profit/loss, and the ability to track the status of business development quickly and measurably.
