Abstract

The Integrated Rail Transit of Jabodebek (LRT Jabodebek) has emerged as a significant alternative mode of transportation for Jakarta residents, covering a route of 42 km with service lines: Cibubur-Cawang, Cawang Dukuh Atas and Jatmulya Cawang, incorporating a total of 18 stations. Using electricity as the motor energy source, LRT Jabodebek converts the power supply of 20 kV from PLN into a direct current of 750 volts. With a headway of only 3 minutes and numerous stations, LRT Jabodebek demonstrates substantial potential for regenerative braking. Regenerative braking is a phenomenon where the kinetic energy of the train is converted into electrical energy during braking, allowing the train to generate electricity every time it brakes. This research utilizes the E-Trax software to simulate regenerative braking in LRT Jabodebek, aiming to determine the energy consumption values during normal operations and the utilization of regenerative braking energy with different timetable peak load operation and peak off load operation. The results show that the use of regenerative braking for energy recovery can reduce energy consumption by up to 15.65% at peak load and 15.43% at peak load.
