Abstract

One of the goals of the national education system is to form a noble character in students. However, in reality there are still many cases of violations involving school-age children. Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) is planning a Strengthening Character Education (PPK) program by appointing several schools as pilots in implementing character education. One such pilot school is MAN 1 Bandar Lampung, which serves as an example for other madrasas. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data is then analyzed by reduction and presented in the form of a verified description to draw conclusions.The purpose of this research is to analyze, find, and describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation of character education at MAN 1 Bandar Lampung. The research results show the following:Planning to strengthen character education at MAN 1 Bandar Lampung involves several steps. First, determine the character values that will be developed in schools. Next, do the preparation of educators and education. Then, review documents related to the implementation of strengthening character education. Furthermore, conducting policy outreach to all school members, parents of students, and related communities.The implementation of strengthening character education at MAN 1 Bandar Lampung is carried out in three main ways. First, integrating character education content into all planned subjects and activities. This approach combines integrated models in all subjects with supplementary models, such as extracurricular activities, guidance and counseling services, as well as student coaching activities. In addition, character education is also integrated into daily activities at school through habituation and example, as well as building communication and collaboration between schools and parents of students.Evaluation of character education at MAN 1 Bandar Lampung is carried out in several forms. First, the program evaluation is reported directly to the Department of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. Furthermore, the evaluation is related to the process of implementing strengthening character education in schools. And finally, the evaluation is related to the performance results of implementing character education by students.With the Strengthening Character Education program at MAN 1 Bandar Lampung, it is hoped that it will make a positive contribution in shaping the noble character of students, as well as being a good example for other madrasas in carrying out character education.
