Abstract

Early childhood refers to children aged 0–8 years who are in a stage of physical and mental growth and development. One effective way for children to learn during this period is through play. Learning while playing can be enjoyable and engaging for children. The approach that combines play and learning integrates playful activities into the teaching and learning process, aiming to create a joyful atmosphere and encourage active participation. Community-based research indicates that play-based learning methods are highly effective in enhancing young children’s abilities. This approach not only supports cognitive development but also strengthens social, emotional, and physical aspects. Early childhood education serves as a fundamental stage in shaping children’s abilities and character for the future. During this phase, children experience rapid growth and development, both physically and psychologically; therefore, the learning approach should be designed appropriately and responsively to meet their developmental needs.

Abstract

Desa Tanjung Lago, Kecamatan Tanjung Lago, Kabupaten Banyuasin memiliki potensi yang beragam dalam mendukung pembangunan desa berkelanjutan, khususnya pada aspek sumber daya manusia dan ekonomi lokal. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal dan mengembangkan potensi Desa Tanjung Lago melalui program pendidikan dan penguatan ekonomi masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Program pendidikan dilaksanakan melalui kegiatan mengajar yang berfokus pada peningkatan literasi, numerasi, dan keterampilan komunikasi anak-anak usia sekolah. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keaktifan, kepercayaan diri, serta kemampuan dasar siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Selain itu, potensi ekonomi desa terlihat dari keberadaan usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah (UMKM) yang memanfaatkan sumber daya lokal. Meskipun masih menghadapi keterbatasan dalam pengelolaan dan pemasaran, UMKM memiliki peluang untuk dikembangkan melalui pendampingan berkelanjutan. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pengenalan potensi desa dapat menjadi dasar penting dalam mendukung pembangunan desa berkelanjutan. Tanjung Lago Village, Tanjung Lago District, Banyuasin Regency, has diverse potential to support sustainable village development, particularly in human resources and the local economy. This community service activity aims to identify and develop the potential of Tanjung Lago Village through educational programs and community economic empowerment. The method used was a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation. The educational program was implemented through teaching activities focused on improving literacy, numeracy, and communication skills in school-age children. The results of the activity showed an increase in student engagement, self-confidence, and basic skills in the learning process. Furthermore, the village's economic potential is evident in the presence of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that utilize local resources. Although still facing limitations in management and marketing, MSMEs have opportunities to develop through ongoing mentoring. This activity demonstrates that identifying village potential can be an important foundation in supporting sustainable village development.
