Abstract

This study aims to develop an instructional media in the form of a picture storybook based on Wayang Sukuraga to instill the value of responsibility in elementary school students through Pancasila Education. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which includes Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The research subjects were third-grade students from SDN Cigalasar and SDN Cikadu. Observations revealed that students struggled to understand and apply the value of responsibility, and the existing learning media were neither engaging nor contextual. The developed media was validated by content, media, and language experts, with a result categorized as "highly feasible" (>85%). Limited and large-scale trials showed improvements in students’ learning outcomes. The t-test in the small group indicated a significant difference (sig. < 0.05), while the large group showed no significant difference (sig. > 0.05). The picture storybook based on Wayang Sukuraga was found to be engaging, contextual, and effective in enhancing students’ understanding of responsibility both cognitively and affectively. Therefore, it is suitable for use as a culturally integrated thematic teaching material.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low understanding of elementary school students' science concepts caused by the teacher-centered learning process and the lack of use of interesting learning media so that students are less active in understanding the material. One effort that can be done to improve students' understanding of concepts is through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by animated videos. This study aims to determine the learning process using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by animated videos and its effect on elementary school students' understanding of science concepts. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method (quasi-experimental design) using a nonequivalent control group design. Data collection techniques are carried out through tests and observations. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the average pretest score of the experimental class was 50.64, increasing to 75.82 in the posttest, while the average pretest score of the control class was 47.50, increasing to 71.07 in the posttest. The results of the hypothesis test using the Independent Samples t-Test showed a significance value of 0.014 < 0.05, indicating that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by animated videos has an effect on elementary school students' understanding of science concepts. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by animated videos can improve students' understanding of science concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation steps of the Guided Writing method assisted by picture-sequencing media and its effect on the creative writing skills of third-grade elementary school students. The study was motivated by students' low ability to develop ideas, organize story plots, and apply proper language rules when writing fiction stories. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design was employed, involving class III B as the experimental group and class III A as the control group at SDN Cipaku. Data were collected through a creative writing test and a learning-implementation observation sheet, then analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the implementation steps consisted of orientation, presentation, structured practice, guided practice, carried out successfully. The pretest results indicated that both classes had equivalent initial abilities (Sig. 0.502), while the posttest results showed a significant improvement in the experimental class (mean 82.78) compared to the control class (mean 69.41), with a significance value of 0.000. Therefore, the Guided Writing method assisted by picture-sequencing media proved effective in improving the creative writing skills of third-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Elementary school students’ curiosity and scientific literacy still need to be improved through the implementation of learning models that actively engage students in the learning process. This study aims to determine the effect of the Naturalistic Intelligence-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on elementary school students’ curiosity and scientific literacy. This is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The research subjects in this study were fifth-grade students at SDN Sukaraja 1, consisting of 36 students in the experimental class and 34 students in the control class. The research instruments used were a questionnaire to measure curiosity and a test to measure scientific literacy. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests—including normality and homogeneity tests—and hypothesis testing with the aid of IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. The results showed that the significance values for the curiosity variable were 0.000 and for scientific literacy were 0.000, meaning both were < 0.05. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model based on Naturalist Intelligence has an effect on the curiosity and scientific literacy of elementary school students.

Abstract

Reading comprehension remains a persistent challenge in elementary education, particularly when students are required to identify main ideas, infer implicit information, evaluate a text, and retell its content. This study aimed to describe the need, development process, feasibility, and effectiveness of an Interactive Folklore Book assisted by Articulate Storyline for improving fourth-grade students' reading comprehension. The study employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model. The product was an interactive digital storybook entitled “The Legend of Situ Batukarut,” integrating text, illustrations, optional audio, navigation buttons, hotspots, feedback, and activities addressing literal, inferential, critical, and creative comprehension. Needs analysis involved three teachers and 30 students. Product trials consisted of an individual trial with three students, a small-group trial with 40 students, and a large-group trial with 80 students from three elementary schools. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, expert validation, tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively, followed by normality testing, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and normalized gain analysis. Teacher and student needs reached 93.33% and 94.17%, respectively. Expert validation produced an average feasibility score of 82.35%, categorized as highly feasible. In the small-group trial, the mean score increased from 52.81 to 74.92 (Z = -5.550; p < .001; N-gain = 0.47). In the large-group trial, it increased from 54.92 to 77.42 (Z = -7.811; p < .001; N-gain = 0.50). The product was therefore highly feasible and effective within the context of this study, although the moderate gain indicates the need for repeated use and further controlled evaluation.
