Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the meanings of BTS’s Spring Day music video through the lens of the Narrative Paradigm theory and Roland Barthes semiotics. The study used two primary data collection techniques: observation and literature review. The analysis found nine key scenes showing three stages of emotional transformation: grief, longing, and emotional liberation. Each stage reflects a specific mood, isolation, sorrow, longing, healing, or hope. Additionally, an analysis of eight key lyrics reveals four narrative stages: profound loss and clinging to hope, struggling with normalcy, emerging from despair, and messages of hope and closure. These findings highlight how Spring Day combines visual and lyrical elements to convey the universal message of loss and recovery. BTS’s storytelling on Spring Day offers an emotionally resonant and culturally relevant narrative enriched with semiotic meaning.

Abstract

Kata kunci: edukasi anti kekerasan seksual; iklan layanan masyarakat; kekerasan seksual; speak up; kesadaran berbicara ABSTRACTSexual violence and harassment arise as a consequence of social inequality that places certain groups in weaker positions, making them vulnerable to exploitation. This situation is worsened by the tendency of victims to remain silent due to shame, fear, external pressure, or other factors. Preventing sexual violence, which is an important agenda in SDG 5 (gender equality) and SDG 10 (reduced inequalities), requires collaboration across different layers of society. As a form of contribution, a community service program in the form of sexual violence prevention education was initiated for high school students. The program aims to build awareness of the threats of sexual violence, foster students’ concern through exposure to recent data and facts, and encourage them to speak up when experiencing or witnessing violence, whether verbal, non-verbal, or physical. The method of implementation was a workshop consisting of three stages: planning, execution, and evaluation. During the planning stage, communication was established with SMA Unggulan BPPT Al Fatah Lamongan. The 90-minute workshop featured a public service announcement video titled “Speak Up!” as an educational medium. A total of 86 students participated, including 76 tenth graders and 10 members of the school’s media team. The results showed an increased awareness among students about the importance of speaking up to minimize the potential and impact of sexual violence, as reflected in their enthusiasm and testimonials. Keywords: anti-sexual violence education; public service announcement; sexual harassment; speak up awareness to speak
