Abstract

The low level of science skills among early childhood learners is caused by the science learning strategies applied by teachers, which tend to be monotonous and rely heavily on books or magazines. Children need to be given opportunities to learn about science and explore their surroundings so they can observe and directly experience what they are learning. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the improvement of science skills in early childhood through the implementation of organic waste utilization activities. This study is a pre-experimental research using a one-group pretest and posttest design. The population in this study consists of all early childhood students in a PAUD (Early Childhood Education Institution). The selected sample included 37 children. The sample was chosen using a purposive sampling technique, where the selection was based on specific considerations. Data collection was conducted through observation using research instruments. The collected data were analyzed in two stages: normality testing and hypothesis testing. The data analysis method used to test the hypothesis was the Paired Sample T-test. The results showed that the average score of children's science skills through the application of organic waste utilization activities increased from 56.30 in the pretest to 104.92 in the posttest, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the science skills of early childhood learners improved after the implementation of organic waste utilization activities.

Abstract

The implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors has an impact on children's growth and development. Independence is one of the urgent needs in the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors, especially in disaster-prone areas such as the foot of Mount Merapi. This study aims to analyze the independence of early childhood in the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors at the foot of Mount Merapi. Data collection was conducted using observation, interviews, and documentation of five research subjects: children aged 3-5 years, parents, close family members, and teachers. The results of the study showed that children aged 3-5 years demonstrated positive independence in the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors, both at home and at school. Three out of five children were independent in washing their hands, both at home and at school. Additionally, three out of five children were also independent in using toilets at home. All five children demonstrated independence in disposing of waste, consuming healthy food and drinks, and balancing sleep/rest needs with activities at home. At school, all children have demonstrated independence in the indicators of using healthy toilets, disposing of waste, consuming healthy food and drinks, and balancing rest and activities. The implications of this research can serve as a foundation for teachers, parents, and policymakers to design curriculum and environment-based interventions, particularly in disaster-prone areas, to ensure that children's independence in Clean and Healthy Living Behavior continues to develop and supports their health and resilience in facing environmental risks.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the challenges faced by the Alpha Generation in maintaining character values amid the rapid development of digital technology. Instilling character values has become crucial in shaping resilient, tolerant, and integrity-driven individuals in the 21st century. This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital technology in instilling character values in early childhood, referring to the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (Proyek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila, P5). A qualitative approach using a case study method was employed in this research. The subjects included principals and teachers of Groups A and B from five early childhood education institutions that met the criteria of technological ownership, high accreditation, and involvement in character education. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, with data analysis following the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that digital technology, using videos, images, animations, audio, and educational games, can effectively shape children’s character values, particularly in the dimensions of religiosity, independence, creativity, cooperation, and global diversity. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of collaboration among teachers, principals, and parents, as well as the availability of technological infrastructure, in optimizing digital media as a fun and meaningful tool for instilling character in the Alpha Generation.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the evaluation of the implementation of the stunting reduction program, namely the Healthy Kitchen to Overcome Stunting and Mutual Cooperation to Prevent Stunting program in Tieng Village, Wonosobo Regency, by analyzing the evaluation of input, process and output. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects in this research were 11 people consisting of PKK cadres, Posyandu cadres, Tieng Village Midwives, students, nutritionists, village officials and program recipients. Data collection techniques are carried out through interviews and documentation. Method triangulation by conducting interviews with nutritionists at the Kejajar Community Health Center, Tieng Village Officials, and parents of program recipients. Data analysis techniques are carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and verification or drawing conclusions. Evaluation of the DASHAT program shows obstacles to input evaluation in the form of a lack of budget from program organizers, time constraints for program implementation, delays in handling stunted children, as well as the need to improve facilities and infrastructure. The output during the implementation of DASHAT is influenced by input and process, the output from the implementation of the DASHAT program is still not able to reduce stunting cases in Tieng Village. The evaluation of the Gong Ceting program experienced obstacles in the input evaluation in the form of a lack of facilities and infrastructure, long distance from the campus to the focal village, internet network problems when participating in the MURI record zoom, as well as short implementation time, but the output of the Gong Ceting program showed success marked by solutions MURI record by serving 14,000 portions of nutritious food for stunted children and declaring 10 stunting locus villages in Wonosobo Regency.
