Abstract

This study explores senior high school students’ perceptions of using songs as a medium in english language learning. Recognizing the potential of songs to enhance motivation, engagement, and language proficiency, the research focuses on four 12th-grade students majoring in Computer and Network Engineering at SMKN 2 Kuningan. Utilizing a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires comprising closed and openended questions. Findings reveal that students hold positive perceptions of using songs in learning English, noting benefits such as improved pronunciation, better vocabulary retention, increased motivation, and enhanced listening skills. The pop genre was most favored due to its clear and simple lyrics. Despite the overall enthusiasm, students identified some challenges, including difficulty understanding lyrics without written text and unclear pronunciation. Nonetheless, all participants recommended more frequent integration of songs into English instruction, emphasizing the engaging and enjoyable nature of this approach. These results suggest that incorporating music into language education can significantly contribute to student learning outcomes, especially in vocabulary acquisition and listening comprehension.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris siswa MI Plus An Nur, Kabupaten Kuningan. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mitra adalah kurangnya praktik berbicara, keterbatasan akses sumber belajar, serta minimnya metode pembelajaran yang menarik. Solusi yang ditawarkan meliputi sesi dialog interaktif, permainan peran, workshop berbicara, penyediaan materi pembelajaran, serta penggunaan teknologi sederhana berupa aplikasi edukatif offline dan permainan papan. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan terdiri dari tahapan persiapan, sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan, pendampingan, evaluasi, hingga keberlanjutan program. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa siswa lebih percaya diri dalam menggunakan kosakata bahasa Inggris, antusias mengikuti aktivitas, serta mampu menguasai minimal 10 kosakata baru dari setiap pertemuan. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini berkontribusi pada peningkatan keterampilan bahasa Inggris siswa dan mendukung pencapaian SDG 4: Pendidikan Berkualitas.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance listening and reading skills among elementary school students through storytelling methods and the establishment of reading corners in Kutaraja Village, Maleber District, Kuningan Regency. The primary issue addressed is the low reading interest and literacy skills among children. The methods employed include initial observation, community socialization, training for volunteers and educators, as well as the implementation of technology for access to reading materials. The execution of the program involves a dedicated team of lecturers and students, alongside active participation from local government, parents, and students. Results indicate an increase in reading interest and community engagement, with the reading corner serving as an effective learning resource. Through this initiative, the community is expected to foster a sustainable literacy culture. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders in supporting education and literacy, as well as the necessity for sustainable management of the reading corner to ensure long-term success.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Taman Bacaan Masyarakat (TBM) Hipapelnis Desa Kalimanggiskulon dengan tujuan meningkatkan kapasitas pengurus serta memperkuat peran TBM sebagai pusat literasi berbasis teknologi. Program dilaksanakan melalui tujuh tahapan, yaitu persiapan, sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, pendampingan, evaluasi, dan keberlanjutan program. Pada tahap persiapan dilakukan identifikasi kebutuhan dan penyusunan materi, sedangkan tahap sosialisasi dan pelatihan berfokus pada peningkatan kesadaran pentingnya inovasi program serta keterampilan digital pengurus TBM. Selanjutnya, penerapan teknologi diwujudkan melalui pemanfaatan platform digital, penyediaan perangkat keras, dan akses internet untuk mendukung kegiatan interaktif. Tahap pendampingan dilaksanakan secara rutin untuk memastikan pengurus mampu mengelola program baru dan beradaptasi dengan teknologi. Evaluasi dilakukan secara berkala guna menilai efektivitas kegiatan, sementara rencana keberlanjutan disusun melalui penggalangan dana, kemitraan strategis, dan pelatihan lanjutan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kesadaran, keterampilan, dan kepercayaan diri pengurus dalam mengelola program literasi berbasis digital. Dengan demikian, pengabdian ini tidak hanya memberikan dampak jangka pendek, tetapi juga membuka peluang jangka panjang bagi TBM Hipapelnis untuk berkembang sebagai pusat literasi desa yang adaptif, modern, dan berdaya guna bagi masyarakat.
