Abstract

Congestive Heart Failure occurs when cardiac contractility is reduced and the ventricles are unable to pump out as much blood as they enter during diastole. Patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) need adequate sleep because of good sleep quality will improve heart muscle cells. Sleep Hygiene is a behavioral practice based on our knowledge of sleep physiology and pharmacology, which has been shown to improve sleep quality (Jefferson et al, 2005). Sleep quality can be measured by PSQI with the final result ≤ 5 (Good) and 5-21 (Poor). This literature review aims to find evidence of sleep quality in heart failure patients and their management. Methods : Literature study from some a journals sourced from Google Scholar, with the keywords Sleep Hygiene and Congestive Heart Failure, as many as 17 journals were selected for review. Results: Application of Sleep Hygiene showed a change in sleep patterns and sleep quality in Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) patients. Discussions : The result is sleep deprivation in people with heart failure that affects their quality of life, tends to suffer from depression which results in increased death and ventricular arrhythmias. Handling in the form of pharmacological and non pharmacological therapy. Implications for nursing science of sleep quality problems of heart failure patients are sought to develop a model of non-pharmacological regimen therapy, taking into account psychosocial and spiritual aspects.

Abstract

Pneumonia remains one of the leading causes of death among children under five in Indonesia. In Garut Regency, a total of 9,865 pneumonia cases were recorded in 2023, with Kadungora Primary Health Center reporting 276 cases of acute respiratory infection (ARI) with pneumonia in children under five during the same period. Most cases experienced delays in treatment due to low family knowledge and awareness regarding early symptoms and initial actions to take. This study aims to describe family understanding, health-seeking behaviors, and factors influencing the management of ARI pneumonia in children under five. A qualitative method was employed through in-depth interviews with two families of children diagnosed with pneumonia and two local healthcare workers. The results revealed that most families failed to recognize the early signs and symptoms of pneumonia, tended to rely on traditional remedies, and had limited access to health information. However, families who had received health education from community health volunteers responded more promptly and appropriately in seeking medical care. Key factors influencing family behavior included socioeconomic conditions, knowledge level, and access to information. This study highlights the crucial role of active healthcare provider involvement and community-based education in increasing awareness and promoting timely management to reduce morbidity and mortality from pneumonia in children under five.

Abstract

Complete Basic Immunization (CBI) coverage is a crucial indicator in the effort to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases and reflects the performance of primary healthcare services. In 2024, Garut Regency recorded a CBI coverage rate of 78.29%, while Kadungora Public Health Center reported the lowest rate at 65.07%. This study aims to describe the CBI coverage at Kadungora Public Health Center during the year 2024. The research used a quantitative descriptive method with a secondary data analysis approach. The population and the sample consisted of 813 infants who received immunizations and were recorded at Kadungora PHC between January and December 2024. The results showed coverage for each type of immunization as follows: HB-0 (71,7%), BCG (90%), DPT-HB-Hib 1–3 (91%,92,3%,91,9%), OPV 1–4 (90.3%,91,5%,92,1%,91%), IPV 1–2 (81,4%,70,6%), MR (91,1), PCV I–II (81,1%,82,2%), and Rotavirus I–III (58.18%–69.13%). The lowest coverage was found in HB 0, Rotavirus and IPV immunizations. These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions to improve CBI coverage, particularly for vaccines with the lowest achievement rates, in order to meet the national immunization coverage targets more evenly.
