Abstract

Breast milk (ASI) is the most perfect source of nutrition for infants, especially during the first six months of life. However, many postpartum mothers experience obstacles in producing breast milk optimally. One non-pharmacological alternative to increase breast milk production is the consumption of mung bean extract, which contains lactagogues and B-complex vitamins. This study aims to determine the effect of mung bean extract on breast milk production in postpartum mothers. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach involving 10 postpartum mothers at PMB Bidan SRI, Selesai Subdistrict, Langkat Regency. The intervention was carried out for seven consecutive days, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. The results showed a significant increase in the average breast milk production score from 1.20 to 2.90 after the intervention, with a p-value of 0.004. This indicates that mung bean extract has a positive effect on increasing breast milk production. These findings are expected to serve as a basis for healthcare providers to recommend mung bean consumption in lactation management for postpartum mothers.

Abstract

The coverage of complete basic immunization remains a serious public health concern, particularly in rural areas such as Suka Raya Village, Pancur Batu Subdistrict, where only 26.2% of infants have received full basic immunizations. Low maternal knowledge and negative attitudes are among the primary barriers contributing to this issue. This community service activity was designed to increase the knowledge and attitudes of mothers regarding the importance of complete basic immunization through structured health education. The activity involved 42 mothers with infants aged 9–12 months and was conducted in July 2025 at the Suka Raya Village Hall. The method consisted of interactive lectures, distribution of educational leaflets, and direct discussions facilitated by health educators. Pre- and post-intervention questionnaires were used to assess changes in knowledge and attitudes. The results showed a significant improvement: mothers with good knowledge increased from 47.6% to 85.7%, and those with positive attitudes increased from 42.9% to 83.3%. The findings support that community-based health education interventions can effectively enhance maternal understanding and behavioral intentions toward completing their children's immunization schedules. It is recommended that similar educational activities be regularly implemented and supported by local health institutions and cadres. This initiative demonstrates the importance of empowering mothers at the grassroots level to improve child health outcomes.

Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain without any organic abnormalities, commonly experienced by adolescent girls, which affects daily activities and quality of life. Non-pharmacological treatments such as warm compresses and lavender aromatherapy are considered effective and safe alternatives. This study aimed to analyze the difference in effectiveness between the application of warm compresses and lavender aromatherapy in reducing dysmenorrhea pain among female students at SMA Ummu Rahmah Patumbak. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest two-group comparison approach. A total of 20 respondents were divided into two treatment groups. Pain levels were measured using the Numeric Rating Scale, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. The results showed a significant reduction in pain in both groups (p<0.05), with the average pain score in the warm compress group decreasing from 5.50 to 0.55, and in the lavender aromatherapy group from 5.30 to 0.65. In conclusion, both interventions effectively reduced dysmenorrhea pain, with warm compresses showing greater effectiveness.
