Abstract

This study examines the community's response to the construction of decent houses in Dumai City.  The author attempts to describe and analyze the community's response to the Construction of a Livable House Program in Dumai City in a factual, accurate, and systematic manner. The author uses the survey method, which, according to Masri Singarimbun in Iskandar, is "research that takes samples from the population and uses questionnaires as the main data collection tool." The data were processed using SPSS software with cross-tabulation and chi-square analysis. The community's response to receiving livable houses to overcome poverty and reduce economic burdens is categorized as good. The community's response to receiving livable houses is also in the good category. However, a small number of respondents still complain about the construction quality of the houses. The community's response to receiving livable houses in terms of comfort and household comfort is in the good category. The community's response to receiving decent housing in terms of its ability to provide protection, guidance, and education for the family is also in the good category. The community's response to receiving livable houses in terms of improving environmental health for family life is also good.
