Abstract

Health management is the process of maintaining the health of family members who are ill. Ineffective health management can occur when individuals or families experience health disturbances due to unhealthy lifestyles or diseases such as acute respiratory infections (ARIs) caused by environmental pollution from cigarette smoke or vehicle emissions. The role of mothers and families is very important in ineffective health management. This study aims to describe the management of ineffective health management with health education in families of school-age children who experience ARI. This type of research is a descriptive case study with a nursing approach. The results of the study obtained at the assessment found Mrs. A's child had a cough with phlegm and the family did not understand prevention and care. Nursing interventions in the form of health education about ARI disease include understanding, causes, signs and symptoms, risk factors, prevention and treatment of ARI. Health education is carried out gradually so that families can accept the information conveyed. Evaluation found that ineffective health management problems can be resolved. Suggestions for families to improve clean and healthy living behaviors, especially for children.
