Abstract

This article examines the phenomenon of the aqsam (oath) in the Qur'an as a crucialelement in conveying theological and rhetorical messages of revelation. In numerous verses,Allah swears by His various creations to affirm the truth of His message, the oneness of God(tawhid), and the certainty of the Day of Judgment. This study is motivated by the importanceof understanding the function of oaths not only as a figure of speech but also as a powerful andprofound da'wah communication strategy. This research uses a qualitative descriptiveapproach through a literature review of verses containing oaths and classical andcontemporary interpretations of these verses. The results show that the aqsam not onlystrengthens the hujjah or divine argument but also shapes the emotional and spiritualresponses of its readers, particularly during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace beupon him), when the language of oaths possessed high suggestive and rhetorical power. Thediscussion demonstrates that the structure of oaths in the Qur'an contains theological, philosophical, and pedagogical meanings that can deepen the understanding of the divinemessage. Thus, the aqsam in the Qur'an becomes both a rhetorical instrument and an effectivemeans of preaching, instilling faith and submission to revelation.

Abstract

This journal discusses the differences in the level of certainty between mutawatir and ahad hadith and their impact on establishing Islamic creed and law. The background of this study is based on the importance of ensuring the validity of Islamic sources, especially when faced with theological and legal issues that require clear evidence. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study approach, which refers to classical and contemporary literature such as the works of al-Suyuthi, al-Baghdadi, and Ali Mustafa Ya'qub. The results of the study indicate that mutawatir hadith have a high level of certainty (qath'ī al-wurūd) and can be directly used as a basis for creed and law. In contrast, ahad hadith are strong assumptions (zhannī al-wurūd) and require further research before being used, especially in terms of belief. The discussion emphasizes that although ahad hadith are not equal to mutawatir in terms of certainty, they remain relevant in Islamic jurisprudence, especially when analyzed with the principle of maqāṣid al-syarīʿah. With the right contextual approach, ahad hadith continues to play a vital role in addressing the needs of Islamic law in the modern era.
