Abstract

This study aims to survey the existence and types of martial arts extracurricular activities in elementary schools in the East Jakarta Municipality. The method used is descriptive quantitative with a survey technique involving 30 purposively selected elementary schools. The research instruments consisted of questionnaires and interviews with school principals and extracurricular activity coordinators. The results showed that 76.7% of schools offered martial arts extracurricular activities, with pencak silat being the most dominant (43.3%), followed by karate (20%) and taekwondo (13.3%). These findings indicate that martial arts activities play an important role in the character development of students. The study reinforces the importance of structured extracurricular management as an integral part of character education.
