Abstract

This article explains the benefits of distance learning and the challenges faced by students and teachers. This article is the result of library research. The results of the study explain: first, the use of technology to enable students to learn without being bound by space and time. With basic principles such as geographical separation, the use of technology, and flexibility and independence for students, this learning offers broader and more affordable learning opportunities. The main advantages of distance learning include flexibility in terms of time and place, wider access to education, more affordable costs, and the development of digital skills and learning independence. Second, the challenges faced are also significant, such as limited technological infrastructure, lack of social interaction, and difficulties in maintaining motivation and monitoring student progress. Therefore, although distance learning offers an innovative solution in the field of education, attention is needed to overcome these challenges in order to increase its effectiveness and create a more inclusive and high-quality learning experience.
