Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find the optimum production and working time utilization solution for gaining optimum profit through the production of herbal capsule at Micro, Small, Medium Enteprise (MSME) Sekar Utami Toga South Tangerang Banten using simplex method linear programming. This study uses a quantitative approach. The data collection technique used in this study was obtained through primary and secondary data collection from the interview with the owner and 2 employees to know the company’s history, product selling prices, sales report, the number of raw materials used per-product, raw material used in 2024 and raw materials stocks for production in 2025. The sampling technique used was non-random sampling with purposive sampling technique where 8 herbal medicine capsules were chosen based on the observation findings. The data analysis used is simplex method linear programming using POM-QM computer application program and Excel. The result shows the maximum production of the 8 herbal capsules can increase company’s optimum profit up to Rp. 55.496.590,50 with the total working time increase up to 1 hour 43 minutes/working day.

Abstract

This study designs and implements a production automation system using Excel-Macro integrated with POM-QM to improve production and time efficiency in the micro-scale herbal enterprise Sekar Utami Toga, located in South Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia. Building upon previous research on linear programming optimization, this study integrated the optimization model within an automated workflow. A quantitative descriptive pre-post design was used to compare production performance before (2024) and after (2025) automation. Data were collected through observation, time studies, interviews, and production records. The findings reveal substantial performance improvements: total output increased by 42.5%, profit margins rose by 27%, and production capacity utilization expanded by 34.6%. Data entry errors decreased by 90%, and documentation time reduced by 98.9%. Efficiency ratio analysis indicated moderate gains of 0.11% in production efficiency and 0.07% in time efficiency. Although relatively small, these improvements are significant for MSMEs due to higher productivity and output volume. A paired t-test confirmed a statistically significant enhancement in efficiency (t (7) = 4.08, p = 0.004 < 0.05). The study concludes that low-cost automation using Excel-Macro and POM-QM can effectively enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making, offering a practical model for MSME digital transformation in Indonesia’s herbal industry.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of growth mindset, innovation, learning motivation, and social and environmental support on entrepreneurial readiness among participants of the Herbal Medicine Class (HMC) organized by Sekar Utami Toga MSME, a community-based herbal learning initiative in Tangerang Selatan, Banten. Using a quantitative associative design, data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire from 58 participants and analyzed using correlation and multiple regression techniques. The results reveal growth mindset and innovation significantly and positively affect entrepreneurial readiness, whereas learning motivation and social and environmental support show positive but nonsignificant effects. The model explains 54% of the variance in entrepreneurial readiness (R²=0.540), indicating that psychological and behavioral factors play dominant role than contextual ones in influencing entrepreneurial preparedness. Participants with strong growth mindsets show greater confidence, adaptability, and initiative, while innovative learners display creativity and problem-solving skills that enhance entrepreneurial capacity. Motivation and social support boost engagement but influence entrepreneurship indirectly through internal readiness and available opportunities. Overall, the study highlights community-based herbal learning as a medium for developing growth-oriented mindsets, creativity, and self-reliance. The integration of experiential, reflective, and innovation-focused learning to strengthen entrepreneurial outcomes and community education as a catalyst for sustainable local empowerment.
