ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on student’s mathematical critical thinking skills. The research was conducted at MAN 2 Model Medan using a quantitative approach and a quaisi-experimental methode. The research design employed was a posttest-only control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: the experimental class, which applied the Project Based Learning model, the control class which used conventional methods. The isntrument used was a descriptive test of mathematical critical thinking skills that had been tested for validity, reliability, discrimination indeks, and difficulty level. The result showed that the averange posttest score of student’s mathematical critical thinking skills in the experimental class was higher than of the control class. Based on the t-test results, the calculated t-value (t-count) = 3.027 and the critical t-value (t-table) = 1.666 at a 0.05 significance level, which means t-count > t-table. Thus, there is a significant effect of implementing the Project Based Learning model on student’s mathematical critical thinking skills. The application of PjBL can enhance student’s active participation, analytical skills, evaluation, and problem-solving ablilities in learning mathematics.
