Abstract

This research is motivated by a phenomenon discovered by the researcher, where children aged 4-6 in Penuntut Hamlet, Janapria District, exhibit polite and courteous speech, using refined or polite regional language in their daily activities. Considering the reality of today's modern era, many children are also experiencing a decline in manners and politeness towards their elders, or even less polite language. The aim of the research is to find out the role of parents in shaping the character of children aged 4-6 years in Penuntut Hamlet, Janapria and also to find out its supporting and inhibiting factor. Data collection techniques were conducted using combined triangulation. Data analysis is inductive or qualitative, and qualitative research results emphasize meaning over generalization. The method used in this study is qualitative, which aims to describe the situation objectively through words and sentences. the data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model. The researcher used data triangulation to test the validity of the data in this study. The results of this study indicate that the role of parents in shaping and educating children's character is crucial. This study identifies four types of parental roles: educators, guides, motivators, and facilitators.

Abstract

Background: Children’s independence is an important aspect of early childhood development that is generally fostered through intensive parental involvement. However, children in farming families often experience limited interaction with their parents due to agricultural work activities. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the parenting strategies employed by farmer parents in fostering the independence of children aged 5–6 years in Pendem Village. Methods: This qualitative descriptive study involved four farmer parents and four children. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Result: The findings showed that children demonstrated physical independence through their ability to eat, bathe, dress, and manage personal needs independently, while emotional independence was reflected in their ability to regulate emotions and adapt to social environments when their parents were working. Independence was fostered through habituation, simple responsibilities, direct experiences, and support from the village community. The novelty of this study lies in the finding that limited parent–child interaction does not hinder children’s independence but instead fosters a contextual parenting pattern based on direct experience and community support. Conclusion: Limited parent–child interaction in farming families does not necessarily impede the development of children's independence. Instead, farmer parents foster independence through contextual parenting practices that emphasize habituation, responsibility, direct experiences, and community support, enabling children to develop both physical and emotional independence from an early age.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi peran penting orang tua dalam mengelola penggunaan gadget pada anak usia dini. Seiring dengan pesatnya perkembangan teknologi, gadget menjadi bagian yang tak terpisahkan dari kehidupan sehari-hari. Penggunaannya tidak hanya terbatas pada orang dewasa, namun kini juga melibatkan anak-anak sejak usia dini. Penggunaan gadget yang berlebihan pada anak-anak bisa memengaruhi kesehatan fisik dan mental mereka. Oleh karena itu, peran orang tua menjadi sangat penting dalam mengatur dan mengontrol penggunaan gadget agar tidak menimbulkan dampak negatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di RT.05 Dusun Pelita Dasan Agung Baru, Kota Mataram, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Pendekatan ini menggambarkan secara rinci situasi di lapangan melalui wawancara dengan orang tua serta observasi mengenai cara orang tua dalam mengatur pemakaian gadget pada anak-anak mereka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa orang tua memiliki peran yang sangat krusial dalam mengontrol penggunaan gadget, yang bertujuan untuk memastikan gadget digunakan secara tepat dan bertanggung jawab. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam menekankan peran orang tua dalam mengatur pemakaian gadget pada anak usia dini. Pengawasan yang baik dapat menghindarkan anak dari dampak negatif terhadap kesehatan, perkembangan mental, serta perkembangan sosial mereka, sehingga memastikan anak dapat memanfaatkan teknologi dengan bijak dan bertanggung jawab
