Abstract

The primary task of school counselors is to support students in achieving their developmental tasks in accordance with the Student Independence Competency Standards (SKKPD) at each stage of development. Therefore, school counselors require adequate support, collaboration with various stakeholders, and sufficient facilities and infrastructure to perform their roles effectively. However, in practice, school counselors often encounter various challenges. This study aims to identify the obstacles faced by school counselors in delivering guidance and counseling services in educational institutions. A qualitative approach was employed through semi-structured interviews with one counselor, identified by the initials “NR,” at a public junior high school in Palangka Raya. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings reveal several challenges faced by the counselor, including limited understanding of stakeholders regarding the counselor’s duties and functions; an excessive student-to-counselor ratio exceeding 150 students, with some students being uncooperative; additional workload that hinders service focus; counseling rooms that do not meet standardized requirements; curriculum changes requiring service format adjustments; and limited reference books to support guidance and counseling services.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop an instrument in the form of a career planning inventory for vocational school.  There are 35 statement items developed based on 3 aspects of career planning, namely aspects of knowing yourself, exploring a career, and choosing a career. The research sample was 60 vocational students. There are 2 steps taken in developing the instrument, namely (1) to determine the readability of the instrument by involving career planning instrument experts and (2) to determine the level of validity and reliability of the instrument. Based on the readability of the instrument by experts, it was found that the instrument was in the relevant category for use. Then the validity test of the 35 statement items showed that 32 items were valid and 3 items were invalid. Furthermore, 32 statement items were tested for reliability, showing that the Cronbach's Alpha results were greater than the r table. So it can be concluded that the career planning instrument with 32 statement items is relevan, valid and reliable for use by vocational students in career planning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the importance of the role of parents in dealing with juvenile delinquency. The findings show that there are several attitudes and behaviors shown by parents in dealing with juvenile delinquency such as (1) good communication and constructive and educational advice; (2) providing positive role models for children; (3) providing discipline to children, and (4) giving praise to children when doing good things. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the role of parents in dealing with juvenile delinquency plays an important role in adolescent growth and development. The limitation in this study is that researchers only see the causes of juvenile delinquency from the role of parents so that further research can reveal a wider range of causes of juvenile delinquency such as the role of peers, the role of social media and the impact of broken homes.
