Abstract

This article discusses the concept of the meaning of ngawa 'bring' in Javanese. The exact concept is related to the image produced. The term ngawa 'bring' in Javanese has different pronunciations, adjusted to the object being carried, the method of bringing it, the tool used, and the time of bring the object. The method used in this article is the simak method for data collection. Data were analyzed using the agih method with the direct element division technique, and presented using an informal method. The results of the analysis in this article are the acquisition of 18 terms that are peripheral to the categorization of ngawa 'bring'. Based on this analysis, it can be seen that ngawa 'bring' is the central element, while nyangking, nyangklèk, nyangklong, nyunggi, mikul, nggendhong, mbopong, mondhong, manggul, ngindhit, nggêgêm, nyêkithing, nyêngkiwing, nyèrèt, ngêmban, ngêmpit, ngotong-otong, and nuntun are its peripheral elements. The central and peripheral elements in the data as a whole constitute the verb category formed by the affixation process. This affixation process involves the addition of a nasal to the base form, or can be formulated as follows: N (m, n, ng, and ny) + base. Keywords: ngawa, categorization, linguistics cognitive.

Abstract

The title of this research is “The Kind of Javanese Imperative Sentences in Ngudi Susilo Poem By K.H. Bisri Mustofa,, while the purposes of the research is to know what kind of imperative sentence contained in  Syi’ir Ngudi Susilo by K.H. Bisri Mustofa.. This research uses qualitative methode. The data resource in this research is the book entitled Ngudi Susilo poem by K.H. Bisri Mustofa, while the data is imperative sentence.  The result of this thesis include : 1) Imperative senteces based on formal form, consisting of : (a) polite imperatif sentences: with the suffix marker –ana ‘lah’ an the suffix marker –ake ‘kan’; (b) transitive imperative sentences with declarative contructions; (c) intransitive imperative sentences with declarative constructions; and 2) imperative sentences based on lexical markers, consisting of: (a) impeative sentences of necessity marked by the modality kudu ‘must’+verb, kudu ‘must’+adjective, kudu ‘must’+noun; (b) imperative sentences of prohibition markes by aja ‘don’t’+verb, aja ‘don’t’+adjective, aja ‘don’t’+noun; (c) combined imperative senetences with markers: kudu ‘must’ (...)+aja ‘don’t’ (...) and the suffix –ana ‘lah’+ -aja ‘don’t’.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the use of gadgets as a medium for preserving local language for early childhood. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. In the data collection process, researcher also reviewed relevant literature and references. This study was conducted in Balerejo Village, Kebonsari District, Madiun Regency, with 25 students as subjects. Based on the results of the study, there are three things that greatly influence the success of preserving regional languages using gadgets, namely; (1) parental culture to maintain traditional concepts in educating children; (2) the socio-economic status of parents from the lower middle class who tend to be stricter in raising children; and (3) parental education.

Abstract

This research is a case study research with a descriptive qualitative research method that focuses on phonological studies. This research aims to describe the forms of phoneme pronunciation errors in Javanese society, the factors that cause them and how to overcome these phoneme errors. This research shows that 25% of pronunciation errors occur in vowel phonemes and 75% occur in consonant phonemes. Factors that cause phoneme pronunciation errors in Javanese society include environmental factors, namely family, economic factors and also the person's own lack of ability to learn Javanese.

Abstract

This research discusses the concept of the meaning of eye activity in Javanese. The concept is definitely related to the image produced. Eye activities in Javanese have different names depending on the object being seen, how to see it, the tools used and how long it takes to carry out the activity. The aim of this research is to describe the different concepts of eye activity in Javanese and to describe the meaning of each activity. The method used in the discussion of this research is the observation method for data collection techniques. Data were analyzed using the collection method with techniques for direct elements ‘teknik bagi unsur langsung (BUL)’, and presented using informal methods. The result of the analysis in this article is 14 terms are found which are peripheral to the categorization of eye activity. Based on this analysis, it can be seen that nonton 'look' is the central element, while nglirik, ngliwer, mlorok, mlilik, plirak-plirik, plorak-plorok, mêndêlik, mêcicil, pandêng, kriyip-kriyip, mênthêlêng, nrithil, nyawang, and wulat are peripheral. The central elements and peripheral elements in this data as a whole are verb categories consisting of basic forms, affixation and reduplication processes. The affixation process is in the form of adding a nasal to the basic form, or can be formulated as follows: N (m, n, ng, and ny) + base, while the reduplication process is in the form of reduplication changing the sound or dwilingga salin swara and complete reduplication.

Abstract

This research was conducted to described metaphors in the novel Mêndhung Kêsaput Angin by A.G. Suharti. Novel writing certainly uses archaic language which is synonymous with the use of metaphor. Researchers describe the use of metaphors in novels written in 1980. The method used is a qualitative descriptive research method. The data source is the novel Mêndhung Ksaput Angin by A.G. Suharti, while the data are phrases, clauses or sentences that contain metaphors. The theory used refers to Peter and Newmark's theory in Parera about imagery in metaphor, while Lakoff and Johnson are used as supporting theories. The results of this research are (1). there are 36 data or forms of metaphor in the metaphor analysis in the novel "Mendhung Kesaput Angin" by A.G Suharti which can be described through 3 elements, namely object, image and sense; (2) the use of metaphor tends to experience a process of blurring.
