Abstract

ABSTRAK   Surabaya, salah satu kota terbesar di Asia Tenggara, memiliki peran penting sebagai pusat ekonomi dan pariwisata. Namun, Surabaya masih kekurangan fasilitas Convention and Exhibition Centre berskala besar yang mampu menampung berbagai jenis kegiatan, sehingga menghambat perkembangan sektor ekonomi dan pariwisata yang terus meningkat. Kondisi iklim tropis yang panas dan lembap menjadi tantangan dalam merancang bangunan yang nyaman dan efisien energi. Digunakan pendekatan arsitektur biomimikri yang terinspirasi dari bentuk daun Patat (Phrynium capitatum), dengan konsep atap bentang lebar tanpa kolom tengah, sehingga menciptakan ruang yang luas, fleksibel, dan multifungsi. Proses desain dilakukan secara pragmatis dengan mengeksplorasi berbagai bentuk yang efisien untuk berbagai elemen arsitektur. Pendekatan ini berfokus pada bentuk organisme dan prinsip bentuk, sehingga perancangan Convention and Exhibition Centre diharapkan mampu menghadirkan fasilitas yang tidak hanya memenuhi kebutuhan ruang berskala besar, tetapi juga mendukung kenyamanan pengguna serta efisiensi energi.   Kata kunci: Convention Centre, Exhibition, Biomimikri, Phrynium capitatum   ABSTRACT   Surabaya,one of the largest cities in Southeast Asia, has an important role as an economic and tourism centre. However, Surabaya still lacks a large scale Convention and Exhibition Centre facility that can accommodate various types of activies, hindering the development of the growing economic and tourism sectors. Hot and humid tropical climate conditions pose a challenge in designing a comfortable and energy efficient building. To answer these challenges, a biomimicry architectural approach inspired by the shape of Patat leaves (Phrynium Capitatum) is used, with the concept of a wide span roof without a central column, thus creating a spacious, flexible and multifunctional space. The design process was carried out pragmatically by exploring various efficient forms for various architectural elements. This approach focuses on the form of organisms and the principles of form, so that the design of the Convention and Exhibition Centre is expected to be able to present a facility that not only meets and needs of large scale space, but also supports user comfort and efficiency.   Keywords: Convention Centre, Exhibition, Biomimicry, Phrynium capitatum
